I hate to say it, but to be fair to the voters, Christie should select a Democrat.

Was the previous guy a Republican and Loutenberg was placed into the position and not voted in? Or did the Dems somehow prevent having a Republican run against Loutenberg so that only a Dem could hold the office? If neither of those is true, then how is it fair to select a Republican when the people in NJ very clearly voted Dem?
