It is very possible he was going around the circle in an effort to gain supports of his cause.
D.C. has gone through a boat load of changes over the years.
As far as cities go, I still think it’s the best city in the world. Expensive, but I don’t know of any other city that has the open spaces with so many monuments, memorials and access to history than D.C.
Try London, with Hyde Park, St James Park, Regent’s Park, etc and tons more history - or Paris, with the Bois de Boulogne, and tons more history.
Have you considered London or Paris?
