The Global Dispatch reported:
The padlocks to hatches of an aqueduct outside of Boston that supplies drinking water to the metropolitan area were found cut Monday, leading to local concerns after there was a trespassing incident.
Officials say the drinking water does not appear to have been tampered with.
The CBS affiliate is reporting the details, noting that three padlocks were cut from separate access hatches located at approximately half-mile intervals along the aqueduct. Police say there is evidence of an attempt to cut a fourth lock.
State Police are investigating, though they say there is no evidence of any crime other than vandalism.
The MWRA says it doesnt appear anyone tried to tamper with the water supply and there does not appear to be any contamination or changes in water quality.....

I wonder if water testing looks for unknown viruses or the like? Watch for an epidemic of MERS like symptoms shortly.
I think this is the second time this has happened, right? They found a cluster of Muslim chemistry students trekking around there in the middle of the night just after the Boston bombings, IIRC.

No worries... it was probably just a dry run.
Pun intended.
Sarcasm intended.
One doesn’t have to cut open fence locks to get access to a resevoir. More likely it’s someone who just wanted to bring their car in to party or whatever.
Head in hands, heavy sigh, ..... one of those days that I keep hoping that I’ll wake up and all of this was just one crazy dream, that we really aren’t at this point...and I can then write a fantasy book and make millions.
How the heck would they know by just "looking"?
Water is normally tested daily entering the public system!
And is also tested coming out of the treatment plant!
I would think testing would be stepped up! That said it would be hard to contaminate the entire reservoir, however if the location of inlet to the water supply is known the perp can introduce chemicals at the inlet and pose a problem!
I’d thought about MERS in SA as a tit-for-tat, too, maybe they think the virus was developed in Boston or something.
It's the "whatever" part that concerns me. "Whatever" might include hauling 100 pounds of poison in the trunk of that car.
“They seem satisfied with surface appearances,”
Nah! I doubt that. I’ll bet they have every lab they can find doing testing. I’m in that business, and I’m sure they didn’t waste any time getting samples out to be tested. Even the small system I operate has all sorts of contingency plans. EPA requirement.
“al Qaeda? or Obama-Holder?”
Same thing isn’t it?
“And is also tested coming out of the treatment plant!”
According to articles about the aqueduct, it is downstream of the treatment/filter plant in Marlboro, MA
“The Hultman Aqueduct Facility is one of the two main lines that carry drinking water from a treatment plant in Marlboro to the greater Boston area.”

In your opinion, what substance would they be most likely to use?
Of course, there's no such thing as "terrorists" according to the gospel of St. Obama, so who need cameras around a critical public water supply facility?
What difference does it make, anyhow?

Back in 1984 I think...there was a water poisoning scare. I worked in the engineering department for the Monroe County Water Authority. Every morning and night, the boss would go out with a bucket of fish and dunk them in the water tower. None ever died.
