WANTED TO WRITE something snarky about Moira Johnston because what she's doing kind of begs for snarkiness.
But after hanging with her in Rittenhouse Square - where her bare breasts caught the morning sun, elicited picture-taking and drew a blasting honk from a Roadway Express truck - Johnston won me over to her cause.
Which is this: Women should be allowed to go topless anywhere that men are allowed to.
Maybe it was the flowered pasties that covered Johnston's nipples. Or the glorious breeze. Or the guy who grinned at Johnston's chest and said, "God bless ya, babe!"
Mostly, though, it was Johnston's demeanor that made her exposed boobs seem like no big deal.
She wore paisley-patterned harem pants and flats, carried a big old shoulder bag and yoga mat and had the teeniest bit of pudge on her hips. With her no-fuss hair and big sunglasses, she came across as the cute girl next door, not the aggressive sexual tease that naysayers presume her toplessness telegraphs.

Culturally, and speaking on behalf of the male portion of the human species, women are more beautiful than men. Men are sexually aroused by visual stimulation of said beautiful women. Women are less aroused by visual stimulation and more aroused by emotional, social and mental stimulation. Women often do not appreciate the unwanted ogling of strange men while scantily and/or sensually dressed (this confuses men btw).
Society has evolved culturally to accommodate the unwanted spontaneity of sexual arousal and attention by hiding the breasts of women by law. This seems to have, to some degree, improved the situation for both sexes.
If you would like to suggest that men stop being aroused by bare chested women and/or pretend they don’t notice, you should also suggest that women not be so emotional and be more logical.
The sexes may be created equal but they are certainly different.
There’s good and bad in anything; on balance, I’d like to see ‘em all in g-strings.

Men with breasts like women's should be required to cover up in public. Not doing so would be considered obscene.
Women with breasts like men's shouldn't be required to cover up, but then, who would even notice?
