I can remember when nearly every tropical storm system would originate near the coast of Africa and travel all the way across the Atlantic before hitting us. How things have changed.

Cape Verde (Africa) tropical storms get cranked up in August & September. Outside chance for them in July & October.

1100 years ago the incident of category five hurricanes along the Gulf Coast was much higher. No-one knows why they decreased then and remain so to this day.
