Holder Says He Won't Step Down, Has 'Great Respect' for Journalists

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told NBC News on Wednesday that he has no plans to resign for the time being and insisted that he has "great respect" for the news media despite signing off on requests by his Justice Department to examine the phone and email records of journalists.

"There's some things that I want to do, some things that I want to get done that I’ve discussed with the president, and once I have finished that I'll sit down with him and we’ll determine when it’s time to make a transition to a new attorney general," Holder told NBC's Pete Williams in an exclusive interview.

"But to be clear, you’re not stepping down now?" Williams pressed.

"No, I have no intention of doing so now," Holder replied.

A number of prominent Republican lawmakers have called for Holder’s resignation in recent weeks and some White House advisers have expressed frustration over Holder's apparent inability to have foreseen problems arising from his approval of a subpoena naming Fox News’ James Rosen as a possible co-conspirator in an espionage investigation. Holder has become a lightning rod for criticism over the Justice Department's decision to subpoena the phone records of 100 Associated Press reporters and editors in another polarizing leak investigation.

At what point does the legitimacy of this government come into question?
I'm not talking about birth records, or bath house escapades, or lavish vacations. I'm talking about people in this country simply not recognizing or complying with the diktats from the circus in D.C..
At some point, people simply won't recognize the "I'm the leader" schtick coming out of Washington, and will build alternate structures outside "the system". Sure, bluster and threats will issue, along with people being made example of, but I am beginning to believe that there is a quiet withdrawal of consent.
I'm picking up a nervous vibe from some of the non-koolaid liberals I know, in the sense of picking my brains about "what do I do?" (they try indirectly to find out if I have some sort of escape plan). I stay silent most of the time, except for gently reminding them that they voted for this, then talk about sports, or flowers, or the new beer joint around the corner.
By proxy, some of the states are reflecting this sentiment, IMHO. Its going to get stronger as Sebelius, Holder, Pelosi, Reid, and Obama continue to flout the rule of law and selectively enforce arbitrary regulations. I'm sure at some point the gun will come out from D.C., but I'm beginning to doubt people in certain places are going to be willing to fire it.

Yep, that confirms it - to me at least. Holder has something, something big, on hussein. He knows hussein can't throw him under the bus. So with the power of the President behind him, Holder is thumbing his nose at us citizens, Congress, and the Constitution.

The other reason/idea I've heard floated as to why hussein hasn't thrown Holder under the bus... hussein needs Holder in there because he is willing to unquestionably do anything and everything hussein wants, legality be danged.

The Attorney Generals is the President's "shield" against legal charges being directed at the President. Holder doesn't necessarily "have something on the President". Instead, the President must believe that he can still count on Holder to perform his "shield" function.

I saw the interview on NBC Nightly.

The reporter asked him about the language in the warrant affadavit that stated Rosen was aiding and abetting foreign concerns.

Holder replied that he regretted putting that language in the affadavit - but it was legally required if he were to get the warrant signed off.

IOW, he admitted he LIED in the affadavit in order to get the warrant ...

He and his pal, Hussein, have committed so many crimes, he can’t afford to step down. He needs to be removed and if the GOP fails to take him out, they need to be removed by voters.
