CAMP PENDLETON White-gloved hands carefully withdrew the camouflage netting to reveal 89 names etched in granite.
The memorial stone dedicated Thursday at Camp Pendleton honors the men who died serving with the 5th Marine Regiment during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The tall slab in the memorial garden in the Camp San Mateo area of the Marine base faces a similar one to Marines and sailors killed in Iraq.

The Patriot Guard motorcycle riders escorted the memorial to Camp Pendleton from Vermont, passing it off state by state.
