>> Hi boss, didnt know you were on FR also!
Yep. Get back to work, slug! What are you doing surfing FR on company time??!?
In other words, some little collectivist twerp college professor is defining self-confidence, leadership, competence, and ambition as bullying.
It’s simply the next phase of neutering males.
Same here!
Dang!
I find I work better for a female boss... mainly because I completely shut down in the face of threats and many male bosses I have had has used threats of my job as means to motivation. Probably works on some people, but not me.
Also because I am a big picture and numbers guy and females tend to be extremely detailed and grammatical oriented. Between the two, we usually put out a great product.
Then again, every female boss I have had has been feminine, not feminist.
Some people just know how to manipulate their bosses better than others. Others know how to take credit for the work of others.
I’m with you. I’m also a huge “flirt” without actually being a flirt. At least that is what my wife says. Women really like to work with me and me with them. I had my first “girlfriend” before kindergarten. I appreciate the differences between men and women in the way they approach the world. In fact, discovering the “real” reason why I’m suppoesed to appreciate women during puberty seriously mucked it up. Though it was fun for a while...
if they ever try assert themselves or argue a point they are quickly labeled a “bully”.
I’t already part of the Minnesota culture, where any kind of assertion or debate is considered verbal assault.
Perhaps. But in my experiences I have seen employees whom I would categorize as bullies who continue to succeed, despite the fact that they are often very lazy, take credit for others work, and are even downright incompetent.
True. but then what you then have is the Marxian corruption of the language. The people whom you describe succeed, yet when you have to clean up their wreckage, YOU are viewed as the problem, therefore YOU are the bully. Welcome to Humpty Dumpty logic, where words mean whatever the State says they mean, on that particular day.
To be honest, I’ve run into some bullies in the workplace.
My experience too! And I’m female.
I inherited one back in public TV days. The guy worked in another department and I only sort of knew him. He wound up being out for a long time due to major surgery.
He came back and we got him. I found out within a couple of weeks of why we did.
The guy had severe (very selective) temper problems, did very little, lived to chase others down with paper, played on the internet a lot, kissed the manager(s) upstairs asses to no end (plus blabbling/making up stuff about the us) and couldn’t finish every other sentence with the words “and s__t”.
He would go insane when it came to me just doing my job plus usually one or two others showing how irrelevant he was.
There was one major blow up where I thought he was going to take a swing at me. Some other incidents happened around that time. When the great and fair manager upstairs finally decided to intervene. I found out which of us was deemed valuable and it wasn’t me. I stood my ground though and persevered.
I left later and he stayed on. A couple months ago he retired via e-mail and implied some of the others were dangerous and threatening - whatever that meant. That caused some investigations from HR. A friend of mine still there told me the story.
