In A Tramp Abroad Mark Twain makes a similar point. He recounts seeing two men kissing in the Holy Land and says that such reports are true. He said that human beings must kiss, and no one could kiss the women in the Holy Land. However, growing I knew a Lebanese Catholic family with five daughters from about my age to my age minus 12 and they were all quite attractive.
