John Zawahri lays dead on the sidewalk after shooting people and killing his own father and brother on Friday. (RYOT)
Zawahri had mental issues as a juvenile. Authorities kept his name from the public for several hours.
The LA Times reported:
The suspect was identified by five law enforcement sources in Washington and Los Angeles as John Zawahri, in his 20s.
Other sources with knowledge of the investigation said detectives believe the shooting was sparked by a family dispute of some kind but emphasized that the investigation was still in its early stages.
The suspects past mental health issues occurred when he was juvenile, the law enforcement source said, but no further details were offered....

Come to think of it, I’d expect someone named Keith Ellison to be a ginger tall guy, not a short black dude.
Zawahir is a tribal area in Abu Dhabi, populated by the tribe of that name.
Samir is typically an Egyptian name. So is Zawahri (or variants, e.g. the name of Al Qaeda's #2, Ayman al Zawahiri).
My guess: The parents might be Coptic Christian immigrants from Egypt. Or Muslim.
You know the MSM wanted a white middle aged conservative man... the gold standard for the press .... and other liberal haters.
Had it been a white male NRA member the networks would still be covering it 24/7...
Even now, news briefs are only referring to the murderer as a male and his age.
The first article here about this had the police declining to comment on motive.. anonymously.
As I said in my original post, “likely” came before “Muslim,” so I did not say he was Muslim.
Saturday evening 10 pm news still would not release the name of the shooter. They said pending notification of out of the country relative’s. Politically correct news in Kansas City. Hearst corporation.
Snip: Its leader is Ayman al-Zawahri, a ruthless Egyptian believed to be the brains behind al-Qaeda and the mastermind of many of its most infamous operations.
One more of many reasons why we Americans need to carry concealed. Shootings, be-headings, kidnappings, etc., could well become the norm with these bastards. Nip in the bud - that is the only answer.
When I heard about it, and heard that two people were dead in a home nearby, my first thought was ‘domestic dispute’. It just seemed too limited in scope to be terrorist related, no matter what the guy’s name happens to be.

From the link:
Muslim activists often complain that murders by Muslims are over-reported. In fact they are often under-reported.
Ali Syed shot six people in Orange County, killing three of them, and yet the story has not gotten the media coverage of other mass shootings. The media has reported it, but has failed to highlight it. And the word Muslim never appears in the report.
A series of freeway shootings Tuesday in Orange County, Calif., has left four people dead, including the suspect, and three people injured, the Tustin Police Department said.
Tustin Police Chief Scott Jordan identified the gunman as Ali Syed, a 20-year-old unemployed part-time student, who lived in the Ladera Ranch home where the first victim, a woman, was killed.
The shootings began shortly before 4:45 a.m. when deputies responding to a call found the body of a dead female shot multiple times in a house in Ladera Ranch.
At 5:10 a.m., police in Tustin received a call about a man with a gun at a major intersection, police spokesman Lt. Paul Garaven said. Syed had attempted to steal a car, Garaven said. When the cars owner drove off, Syed shot and wounded him, he said.
Syed then crossed the street to a gas station where he carjacked a pickup truck. This time, Garaven said, no rounds were fired. He just took the car and fled.
