Early Friday morning, Yuma police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of shots fired in the 500 block of East Country Club Drive.

"After searching [officers] heard of a individual who had a gunshot wound," said Officer Joe Franklin of the Yuma Police Department.

Investigators say a resident shot a man after he allegedly attempted to break into the yard of the home.

Less than three weeks ago, Michael Sykora, 19, died after police say he broke into a house through the doggy door. The home owner shot him.

That incident left neighbors on edge... Saying they would also defend themselves against an intruder.

"[I would have] shot the intruder if he came in the house,” said Cesar Chavez, a Yuma resident.

No lately it isn’t. Yuma has become crime central over the last year. One positive is people have had enough. YPD and YCSO have made some big drug busts over the last 3 months thank to people tipping off the cop about dealers on their street. The drug dealers are getting very nervous.

This shooting is the 3rd defensive shooting since April. The 1st happened when 3 dirtbags attempted to rob a guy that was watering his lawn. He pulled out a .45 and shot one of the turds in the throat. Unfortunately the guy lived and is now in the Yuma County jail.

Last month a 19 yr old kid entered a home through a dog door and was shot in an upstairs bedroom by the home owner. Kid was shot twice in the chest and pronounced dead on the scene. The kid had an extensive record. He was last arrested for stealing credit card info from customers at the hardware store he worked at.

The people of Yuma have decided to take their city back from these animals!

More dropping crime rates the average burglar commits far more crimes before being stopped.

he allegedly attempted to break into the yard of the home

And if he successfully breaks into the yard, then he still has to break into the house. Find another place to rob, dude!
