I can’t believe people living in the area did not know anything about it or have only limited knowledge. Even the President made a statement. Black Panthers and Sharpton protesting. It was Travon 24/7 for months. The more B30 talks, the more he seems to remember.
>>>I have family that lives about 25 miles south of Sanford, FL.<<<
Did they know a lot about the case? Seems these jury people who live there (#29 & #30) know very little about the case according what they say.
Everyone that lives in that area says that it is Zimmerman all the time down there. So unless they live in a cave — how could they not know.
Juror B12 said that she only heard about it 3 or 4 times over the last year.
B29 doesn’t listen to news or read papers — a low information voter.
Now juror B30 says that he doesn’t hear very well. Help.
I’m sure they know about it, but they don’t dwell on news and politics like I do.
South Africa’s colonial govment realized years ago what it takes for a jury system to work, they don’t have juries there, no vital resour listen to me or you can take the mic, but Im leavin
g ces, all out there protesting.
That could be it. Have to admit there are some crime stories where I live that do not interest me unless it happens in my area. With that said, if it turned into a national lynching, I would be listening.
As I look at GZ, it came to mind that he has gained a lot of weight since arrest. Fifty plus pounds perhaps. He looked much thinner in the reenactment video:http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/06/21/watch-video-shows-george-zimmerman-reenacting-fight-with-trayvon-martin/
I am concerned that the State will say that TM was a thin young man incapable of holding down GZ. Or, the jury will have such thoughts in their minds if they have never seen GZ before the trial.
“I am concerned that the State will say that TM was a thin young man incapable of holding down GZ.”
This cuts two ways. The State also wants to pretend that GZ chased and outran TM. Well that’s believable...
That will backfire with the jury members. No one but racist thugs appreciate the actions and sounds of racist thugs.
Black racists always over play their hand until they remove all doubt about who and what they (and Trayvon) really are. Menacing racists marching like around like lynch mob wearing hoods and demanding “racial justice”. How unique.
Although white politicians can be easily racially intimidated in Floriduh, because they are cowardly, corrupt people, Americans are not generally so hot on lynch mobs after white, Hispanic black guys.

Just info for those interested.
Finally, the court described todays process for jury selection. Another judge was pre-qualifying the entire jury pool, from which 100 prospective jurors would be arbitrarily selected. Those 100 would be given a juror questionnaire.
The completed questionnaires would then be reviewed by each counsel. Then each prospective juror would be sent up one at a time for initial voir dire, from which 21 would be selected for full voir dire. (Voir dire is the process of examining prospective jurors to determine their qualifications and suitability to serve on the jury, and to ensure the selection of fair and impartial jurors.)

My question is WHO selects the 21???
The old nullification movement reemerges, eh?
Bernie’s selling the used car, Mark’s thinking about buying it.
I’m assuming each side can challenge for cause, then use peremptory challenges if Nelson denies the challenge.
If Nelson approves the prospective juror, and there’s no peremptory, or none left, the juror gets seated.
Anybody know how many peremptories are available, at which stage(s)?

Answering own question: Appears to be 10 for each side.
This selection process seems to be inherently unfair for Zimmerman.
They are looking for jurors who don’t know anything about the facts of this case, but that favors one side over the other.
Those who know less about the facts of this case tend to side with the Martins, while those with more knowledge of the facts of this case tend to side with Zimmerman.
This process is going to give Zimmerman a low information jury and the inherent biases that come with that.
The defense would be delighted to find people who know the actual facts of the case, but they’re unlikely to get by the prosecution.
