U.S. considers taking in (up to 1.6M) Syrian refugees

WASHINGTON — Two years into a civil war that shows no signs of ending, the Obama administration is considering resettling refugees who have fled Syria, part of an international effort that could bring thousands of Syrians to American cities and towns.

A resettlement plan under discussion in Washington and other capitals is aimed at relieving pressure on Middle Eastern countries straining to support 1.6 million refugees, as well as assisting hard-hit Syrian families.

The State Department is "ready to consider the idea," an official from the department said, if the administration receives a formal request from the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees, which is the usual procedure...

"Americans have a long tradition of welcoming refugees," said Daryl Grisgraber, a Washington-based Middle East specialist at Refugees International, which provides advocacy and services for refugees. "They'll respond here, too."

Thus justifying the ginormous NSA database on people in CONUS.

Imagine 100,000 muslim jihadis here on H-1B, L-1, refugee and expired student visas working in power plants, fertilizer factories, refineries, chemical manufacturers, hospitals, utilities, dams, pharmaceutical formulators, web hub server farms, municipal water supply facilities, sewage treatment plants, meat packing and food processing plants, driving HazMat trucks...

Remember when the Vietcong took over Huế? They were able to round up every government official, march them all off into the jungle and kill every last one of them in one single night.

They knew exactly where they lived, who they visited, where they shopped and where they ate dinner, and when.

How you ask?

The cabbies had been providing the Vietcong with daily reports on their every move for years in advance.

Soooo, where do most of the cabbies in your berg come from? In Washington DC, it's Somalia...

Just because we've forgotten the lessons of Huế and the lessons of the Sepoy Rebellion's "The Perfect Day" doesn't mean our enemies have.

Wiki seems mute on The Perfect Day. That information used to be readily available there. Now it's barely mentioned.

Great. Just great. Now we’re going to provide assylum and probably pay the air fare for invaders? Although I’m sure none of them will be anti American. Crank up the mosque construction. They’re gonna need a lot more of them.

In the Shenandoah Valley, most folk would think you're talking about applesauce ...

Mexicans aren’t going to like that idea.

Considering they have first dibs on the American carcass, I'd figure they will be rather pissed.

How many Syrian Tsarnaev brothers will that include? If there are six people per “family”, we will be taking in about 370,000 “families” immediately eligible for welfare benefits because of their “political refugee” status (as were the Tsarnaevs.) The cost at about $40,000 per family will be about $14.80 BILLION!! I would rather spend a fraction of that on bombs and bomb the entire Syrian nation forward into the Stone Age.

I would use that one, too, but nobody but you and I would know what it meant.
They might think it was apple sauce or something.

Isn’t there a mayonnaise with a name similar?

I have Syrian neighbors (Maronite Christians for the most part). The stories they relate from this war are truly horrifying.

Musselman's ...

I don't see mayo on their list of products. Maybe I'm missing something.
