Edward Snowden's explosive NSA leaks have US in damage control mode
Guardian UK ^ | Monday 10 June 2013 14.43 EDT | Dan Roberts and Spencer Ackerman in Washington and Tania Branigan in Beijing

Washington was struggling to contain one of the most explosive national security leaks in US history on Monday, as public criticism grew of the sweeping surveillance state revealed by whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Political opinion was split, with some members of Congress calling for the immediate extradition of a man they consider a "defector" but other senior politicians from both parties questioning whether US surveillance practices had gone too far.

Daniel Ellsberg, the former military analyst who revealed secrets of the Vietnam war through the so-called Pentagon Papers in 1971, described Snowden's leak as even more important and perhaps the most significant leak in American history.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Daniel Ellsbug... now there’s an expert I’d love to see get his just rewards.

Oh he was the darling of the media. We’ll see how that holds up as Snowden takes on their fair haired love-child and his flying monkeys.

I’m telling you guys, this is just another Obamabot sponsored leak to distract everyone from the Capitol crimes committed by Obama in Benghazi. You know you are over the target when they are unleashing everything they got at you! Anything but Benghazi, because what they did there requires the death penalty for everyone involved!

This entire episode reeks of sensationalism, idealism, fantasy, and diversions.

The NSA is violating the 4th Amendment.

I surely have more evidence than they have for their “search and seizure”.

Arrest the bastards. Massive Civil Rights Violation.

I'm no Ellsburg fan but I'll give him credit for at least being consistent in his convictions on this issue which is more than I can say for virtually everyone else on the left.

Yes, because they told us that they were not violating the citizenry’s rights. Damage control for sure.

I wonder if Rep. Cummings can come up with a document linking Snowden with the Tea Party. The Dems and the media are burning the midnight oil trying to find any link between this guy and the right.

Airports, government buildings, driving along the road...

Trading away rights for temporary safety is never the right decision.

IMO this is purely Elsbug covering his own ass. “If I can just make my act look like it was the same as this act.”

He’s seeking to cover his own ass with the righteous nature of this revelation. One was an act during war, and the other is an act of government abuse against it’s citizens.

IMO, these are two horses of a different color.

Judge Andrew Napolitano is calling him a hero.

My take is this:

"You spy for me I love you long time Missa Snow man, hehehehehehehehe"
