These things usually turn out to be hoaxes.

There is usually a pattern. First, some big lib rag headlines the "hate" crime insinuating or outright implicating conservative groups. Next comes the wailing and moaning by the aggrieved demanding sympathy and quite willing to accept gifts and money for their victimhood. Marches and rallies against "hate" are held by all the usual lib suspects to show support for the "victim." Then comes the results of the police investigation showing the "victim" was the culprit. Lastly comes the retraction without an apology by the big lib rag on page 48. But the tearfest for the "victim" continues as lib sympathizers state that "well, this could have happened, and the "victim" deserves our sympathy."
