Not allowing Dick Turban is a little harsh.

When Amish kids, girls included, play with a team, they wear team clothes, girls no covering.

You play with the team, you are a team member. Amish kids that are young enough to play ball, say under 20 have not joined the church yet. After they join church they would not be interested in playing.

Not sure I see the objection. The only people I know of who are hung up on wearing a turban as a religious obligation are Sikhs, who manifestly represent no particular ideological problem and who aren’t in the habit of firebombing things. There really isn’t any need to wage a culture war against Sikhs.

Is that always true, “not interested in playing”? The way I heard it was that they are generally as happy to play non-professional sports as the non-Amish, at least when the work is done, but not to wear uniforms of any kind, including team ones.

You walk into a bank wearing a full burka.. No Problem
You walk into a bank wearing a ski mask... You get a free rectal exam at the local prison.........
Makes sense in America 2013...........

I believe it is a safety thing. A turban coming unraveled on the field and getting caught in something presents a real danger of a neck injury.

Maybe. That sounds like more or less an excuse to me.
