There is nothing the powerful do that the majority of the powerless wouldn't if they could. Give the less powerful even an iota and they will abuse it. It's the nature of the beast.

Ummm, that’s why we have laws.

Laws don’t exist to protect the ‘powerful & corrupt’ - those people can take care of themselves. And yes, once people move into the class of ‘powerful and corrupt’ we need to create laws around them to keep them from abusing power.

It’s how civilized societies work.
