I am not Roman Catholic, but my understanding is celibacy of priests and nuns etc would not be merely heterosexual celibacy.
Celibacy is a state of not being married. Since homosexuals CAN’T be married, then it assumes that celibacy applies only to heterosexuals. Chastity, on the other hand, is a state of sexual abstinence ....NO SEX outside of marriage. ALL Christians are called to chastity. Priests in the Roman Rite are celibate and therefore should practice continence.
Homosexuality should NOT exist in the priesthood according to the 1961 directives. Pope John XXIII outlined church policy. “Advancement to religious vows and ordination should be barred to those who are afflicted with evil tendencies to homosexuality or pederasty, since for them the common life and the priestly ministry would constitute serious dangers.”
I'm not either but in my mind, celibacy means no sex, with anything.
Celibacy has nothing to do with this. It’s the homosexual influence.
