Just sayin'.
What are the demographics of South Sioux City? Their IQ seems to be substantially sub-normal.
When Zero became Resident, he said our thermostats should NOT be set as high as 72. When it was discovered that he had the White Hut set much higher, the excuse was that he was from Hawaii and needed more heat. He hadn’t lived in Hawaii for years, so how many years does it take to acclimate to a colder area?
I’m from the government and we’re here to - help its 13,000 residents.
If the ‘city’ is going to ‘set’ our thermostats, then the ‘city’ should pay the utility bills.
If we’re going COMMIE, let’s go all the way.
I have the Honeywell wifi thermostat (without big brother) and it is great. If I’m in bed and don’t like the temperature, I pick up my phone and change it. If I’m away I can adjust the temp so it is right when I return.
I also have a Nest (which is more sophisticated) in a different house, but the Honeywell works much better with heat pumps.
They really do pay for themselves by not heating or cooling an empty home.
Why limit control to local pols and bureaucrats?
Just build a master control room under the White House so Obama can take control of every home environment in the country
After all, that is just about the only aspect of our lives they haven’t already taken control of.
Michelle Obama already tells us what to eat and drink, the EPA dictates how much water we can use to flush and how much electricity our refrigerators can consume, the Pentagon tells men and women in uniform what they can and cannot read, Homeland Security probes our body orifices before they let us on an airplane, the IRS decides the kind of taxes they will levy based on our political views, the NSA tracks our communications and the entire federal government will soon be dictating every aspect of our health care.
How can they trust us to adjust the temperature in our own homes?
Wow! We were on the verge of purchasing a backup generator from Honeywell.
We have changed our mind and will go directly to Generac.
“Good news, citizens! Your heat ration for the winter has been increased from 60 degrees to 52!”
Is it impervious to hammers?
There, fixed it.
I remember my school turning down the heat too much. Everyone quickly learned that you could hang a wet paper towel on the thermostat and be nice and toasty.
Yes, because city governments are so fantastic at synchronizing street lights that they really need to be in charge of everyone’s thermostats.
Big Business Is The Tool Of Government.
“South Sioux City, Neb., will be the first community to deploy the new thermostat to help its 13,000 residents manage electricity costs, which are said to have risen steadily there in the past three years.”
I see they’ve got the language of the police state down already. This isn’t the city “controlling” your electricity usage, they are just “helping” you “manage your costs”. They’re doing you a favor by taking your freedom away, foolish citizen!
Thermostats can be fooled, either by an ice pack or a heating pad, depending on the results desired.
Such a system should work well for the Union of Soviet Socialist States.
This was being done in Las Vegas NV over 20 years ago. It never bothered us, and in fact, was not even noticeable.
Be vil kontrol deer horizontal, be evil kontrol deer vertikal, ve bill,.,
LOL!
Good luck with that crap out here where I live.
(Note to self: Be sure to leave the windows open a crack and burn plenty of dead trees in the woodstove next winter.)
