Except that the students in this case were al-Qaida fighters in Mali. And the manual was a detailed guide, with diagrams and photographs, on how to use a weapon that particularly concerns the United States: A surface-to-air missile capable of taking down a commercial airplane.

You mean Hillary and Obama screwed around in Libya to make themselves some money, and now we’re all at risk? I wonder why the Democrats don’t want anyone looking at Benghazi?

“Maybe they’re just grail-shaped beacons.”

I’ll bet they’ve got some holy handgrenades also.

Welcome to the Middle East. Russia is selling these right now to Assad in Syria. If his regime falls, AQ will get their hands on newer versions that inevitably will be used to shoot down airliners and double or triple the costs of airport security in Europe and throughout the West and possibly Asia.

Russia is making a few million doing this and Putin is most likely profiting directly. The real question - will the West blame Russia/Putin when the first airliner is downed in Europe and the horrible pictures are broadcast to the world? Russia has been warned about this by several NATO nations. Will Americans place blame on the Obama administration for fostering the Arab Spring or is our populace so ignorant and insulated from world events that they fail to connect the dots?

It is difficult to rationalize the risks that Putin has chosen by doing this because the potential ramifications are far worse than the short-term profit. It is impossible to rationalize why the Obama administration supported the Arab Spring given accepted strategic policy and thinking.

While this is speculation about what might happen, it would interestingly isolate Russia from the West and push Russia into a tighter alliance with the same nations referenced in the bible that will attack Israel. This is occurring at the same time we have an administration that is openly hostile to Israel’s interests. Congress is increasingly becoming hostile to Israel’s interests. Our State Department has been hostile to Israel for awhile. Look at Obama’s recent appointees - Rice and Power.

We live in interesting times.

Couldn’t have been a MANPAD. Flight 800 was too high for the missile to reach it. Had to have been a larger SAM.

Yeah, and by all means, let’s get involved in Syria too. I don’t really understand the angst over Syria. It’s the best we could hope for. Rags killing Rags.
