A dying girl who needs a lung transplant and only has weeks to live has will receive the long-awaited lung transplant she so desperately needs. Sarah Murnaghan, the 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl dying of cystic fibrosis, received national attention after HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius refused to help.

Oh, don’t say that because every day of life is precious and a testament of our being.
welcome to obamacare..we will have to go to court to get what we need
The transplant regulations only came into being when obama was elected?
Honestly, I haven't read all that much on the story since it first happened. If it's a matter of just moving lists that's another thing entirely.
Never saw the point in age-specified restrictions for medical reasons, myself. A more logical approach might be a height/weight criteria.
Her parents probably went and registered Democrat and took an oath to never question those in power again, hence saving her daughter from Obama’s death panels.
Excellent point. It is a fact someone is denied because of her. Thing is, was she getting preference because of the media and then someone else has to die because of this, or was she truly the number one medical pick on the transplant list.
Given the federal governments track record, I think it is a case where media trumps good medical judgment.
Imagine the media circus if she never got a lung and died. . .so, in this case, IMHO, some unfortunate nobody dies for political and media purposes.
“I feel a great deal of sympathy for this child and her family, but I cant help but wonder if her being pushed to the front of the line didnt push someone else out of it.”
Sme here—but I would have fought for my child, too.
She didn’t “get pushed to the front of the line”. She just got in the other line and her dire condition and other established criteria put her in the position where she is going to get a lung.
And if I were a 30 year old CF patient and it was my turn and a ten year old girl was going to die if I took a compatible lung that could have gone to her, I would like to think that I would pass and take my chances on waiting for the next one.
“...How the heck does Kathleen Sibelius have the authority to say whether or not anyone gets a transplant?....”
Because this silver-haired murderous rat beoch is the newly appointed “Joseph Mengele” of the rat communist party that has literally overthrown our republic...that’s why. She’s so special, doncha know?
Amen to your prayers for this poor kid AND for your slogan.

You’d be quite an angel if you did. That’s another perspective I hadn’t thought of
It would be true if she were 20 and not 10. Sicker candidates get priority over less sick candidates. The only difference in this case is the age of the person in the list.
She was waiting for a pediatric lung for over a year and has been hospitalized the past three months. During that time her condition worsened which brought her closer to the top of the adult list (if she would have been allowed to be on it). After the judge’s decision and the decision to waive the rules this past Monday, she was added to the adult list. The fact that doctors had to perform emergency intubation on Saturday brought her to the top of that list as the most critical needing a transport.
We have a Cystic Fibrosis girl in our town who got the lungs about 15 years ago and is still doing well.
Sebelius is a just too stern. Imo.
The parents ask her to put the child on the adult list before and she refused. And ask not to be ahead of all others just to have a chance of a organ. You are talking blood, size of lungs so much more. Has to be right for the patient. The little girl almost died the other night. She had the variables to the organ. She was worse than the little boy and the adults that’s on the list the MD said on FOX how she moved up/the donor lungs matched. It’s a heartbreaking experience for all sick patients. I would have tried to help my loved one who is ill. My heart aches for those who need help. I hope the little girl has more time to grow up.
You think that’s bad wait till Obamacommiecare goes into effect. Judging whether a kid lives or dies will be a daily occurance. My father already got a letter from his doctor that due to Obamacommiecare he can now only get a colonoscopy every 10 years. He’s 73, so in other words he will never get a colonoscopy I assume unless he pays for it out of pocket. In other words health insurance no longer exists. Sort of like the government taking over car insurance and never paying out when you get into an accident.
Prayers for this girl. This is a highly risky procedure. Cystic Fibrosis is a horrible condition where the lungs constantly ‘gum up’ to where they can’t process oxygen from the air.
Ditto,and then some.
I wish this dear little girl well.
.
In the end it’s a Zero Sum Game.
A. Someone had to die for Sarah to get the lung transplant.
B. The fact that a federal judge had to intervene in an establish process of prioritizing organs made available for process means that some other person was moved down the list and will likely die as a result of the judge’s decision.
