...SYNOPSIS... A SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK APPEARS INCREASINGLY LIKELY ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE UPPER MIDWEST/LOWER GREAT LAKES FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING. INTENSE STORM DEVELOPMENT IN A VERY UNSTABLE AIRMASS...COINCIDENT WITH A COMPACT AND INTENSIFYING SURFACE LOW SHOULD RESULT IN NUMEROUS DAMAGING WIND EVENTS AS WELL AS SCATTERED...POSSIBLY STRONG TORNADOES.

I’m listening to Rush right now on WLS in Chicago.Their local forecast just said that things are gonna get ugly in that area this afternoon.They even mentioned tornadoes.

SPC has a high risk for N IL/IND later today. Those are rare, maybe a half dozen a year.

NWS tweet said it was the first HIGH risk of 2013. @wxjerdman said “Appears to be the first @NWSSPC high risk outlook since the Apr. 14, 2012 central Plains #tornado outbreak. Serious threat N. IL/N. IN.”

I’m surprised OK wasn’t high risk those couple of days last month.

Just heard on WLS that the NWS has raised their alert level to the highest one...at least for the Chicago area.They also mentioned tornadoes again.This was just a minute or two ago.
