Would this be worth Front-paging?

If only. Texas and Z are the only two with a R governor and state houses and I don’t think either has the gumption.

I turned the idea I’d posted in our discussion [here] into a thread; thought you might like to know.

Our Governor is a progressive "republican" but we can certainly lean on him and the legislature.

For at least half of us, if we approach our Governor with this idea he’ll have us declared mentally unstable and then come and take our guns.

pssshh!

Arizona tried this with a legal and Constitutional bill called SB 1070.

The feds declared it illegal, and that’s that.

So, Contact your governor.

Pointless for me. I have Jan Brewer, and she's not taking conservative phone calls now that she's been reelected. She's busy pushing a huge Medicaid expansion through a Special Session while threatening the Republicans in the state House with wholesale vetoes.

Actually, Article Four, Section 4 grants this power to the LEGISLATURES of the several States. Unless the Legislature CANNOT convene. Which in this day and age is almost never the case.

The framers only left it to the Governor's in extremis, because in the case of invasion there may not be time or opportunity to convene the Legislature.

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and SHALL protect each of them against Invasion; and on APPLICATION OF THE LEGISLATURE, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.

Frankly, I think the chances of a Legislature doing this are higher than getting a Governor to stick his neck out so far.

Historically the only thing that gets the undivided attention of FedGov™ is shelling one of their forts and for the states to start forming their own infantry regiments.

Some how I don’t think the O admin will respond in a constitutional manner to this situation....I think the admin will likely invade any state that acts in such a manner by declaring them to be terrorists

I would start with Texas and Arizona. However, it would be tough sledding. Rick Perry seems to like immigration, the Texas House Speaker is GOP-e, and Jan Brewer is proving herself to be GOP-e on the Obamaocare Medicaid expansion, so I don’t know how likely it is that she would support this measure.

Didn’t know about your ping-list, otherwise I’d have asked if this was worth your pinging it.

Update:

I just sent a registered letter (with confirmation) detailing this* to governor Martinez; cost: $15.06.

Kinda expensive, but I want FedGov slapped down. This is something we can pressure our governors into doing; we can change the federal government without their approval using our State.

* I also included citations/reasoning put forward here.
