Alicia Keys face-slaps anti-Israel bigotry

One of America's greatest musical and artistic talents, Alicia Keys, has shown the kind of moral and artistic integrity that is so sadly lacking among some of her more excitable contemporaries, (not to say clichéd windbags unable to break free from fashionable anti-intellectual prejudice against the Jewish state).

As the World Jewish Congress (WJC) is highlighting today, Ms Keys has refused to bow to pressure from characters such as Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd fame, and Alice Walker, a Pulitzer prize winning writer.

In response to a call to boycott Israel by cancelling a July 4 concert in Tel Aviv, the singer, song-writer, and actress said: "I look forward to my first visit to Israel. Music is a universal language that is meant to unify audiences in peace and love, and that is the spirit of our show."

How could one disagree? Well, one could disagree if, instead of "peace and love", one's primary motivation was hatred and lies.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is leading a trade mission to Israel today. I’m a little surprised his friends in Ann Arbor aren’t screeching about it.

Shery’s daughter here. I have been a big fan of Alicia Keys for years. Proud of her for making that stance. We need to support her, as she’ll likely be getting rail-roaded for taking this position. If we giver her this support, it just might give her courage to continue standing her ground on this issue.

I’m not too much into today’s music, being an old fart and all, but she is a fine-looking woman.

Good for her. I love Floyd’s stuff from late 60’s - early 70’s. Pre-dark side preferably. Waters was an integral part of that. Gilmour was really what made them though. At least Gilmour has tact and stays out of all this stuff. I realize people change a lot and not for the better. Even more ironic is Waters and people in his generation growing up in aftermath of WW2 and now siding with fascist Arabs against Israel and the Jewish people for their desire to live in peace in their rightful homeland.

As I recall, she sang the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl.

She has classical training. She’s not a studio creation like Taylor Swift.

If your into this sort of thing, compare the life of Alicia and the life of Lauryn Hill,

Alicia was lucky to have been guided by some well meaning veterans of the music world, and Lauryn was attracted to radicalized activists who gave her really bad advice.

Hill is now going to jail for tax fraud.
Keys is set for another few record contracts.

Grew up 20 miles apart
both young tv actresses
both came out of h.s. as musical phenoms
both accepted to same music program at Columbia U, both dropped out in first year
both got shafted by first record label.
both spent their nights playing at same bars in Greenwich Village,

A local kid in my area was on one of those vocalist talent tv shows recently, these two were used as examples on the various paths he can take going forward.

You and pretty much everyone else on this thread are out of your mind. Here’s the twit singing to her hero, Barack.

Alicia Keys: Obama’s on fire.

Also...at least Hill has gone out of her way to call the music industry a cesspool which is exactly what it is. And her music is 10x more original than your hero who thinks that:

“He’s the president and he’s on fire”! Are you singing Jersey? Can’t hear you!

I may be wrong, but I thought Taylor Swift pretty much carved her own path through the music industry unlike the vast majority of others that are marketing creations.

Despite the fact that her main world view is massive racism. She does toe the line here however.

There is a distinct difference between promoting the Democrat Party Nominee for President of the United States, as Keys has,

compared to...
Hill has promoted radical African American nationalists, reparations activists, Racial Supremacist Rastafarians, A “Christian” cult leader’s Anti-Catholic cult, Haitian drug cartels, radical racist poet Baraka, just to name a few.

Both of them have no formal education beyond freshman year of Uni, don’t expect them to have much of a grasp on the world at large... and you won’t be disappointed.
