The thieves break into the cars to steal registration and the garage door opener. They then proceed to the house to plunder the goodies.

I read of a variation of this. Guys go to a gym and hang around the lockers. When nobody is around, they break open the locker and steal the car keys. Then they go outside, press the magic button which lights up and identifies the car and drive off.

Glad I got the old manual type.

Guess it depends on what generation you grew up in. My dad had a Hudson, if memory serves me correctly. Had push buttons. He just loved it - called it his hoopie.
My dad had a early 50's Studebaker convertible THAT HE CALLED HIS HOOPIE.

I also had Studebaker, a 56 with 3 spd on the column. It had a hill holder clutch. If you depressed the brake pedal with the clutch in it would hold the brakes untill you released the clutch. It worked great even on the hills of San Francisco.

Nah, you can import them via Canada all day long.

Takes a bit of paperwork and you do stupid crap like take the motor out then put it back in, but it’s easy enough to do.

I drive a 2011 Defender 110. (I also live on top of a fricken mountain and am under snow about 5 months out of the year, so I need it.)

Good info.

I know that Homeland Security has been trying to crack down on Defenders. Usually a newer Defender is claimed to be 25 years old and thus has fewer restrictions on importation.

Many many ways around this, none of which I want to post publically.

But if you take the vehicle apart, it’s not a vehicle anymore. And Defenders are 100% modular, so this is an easy, easy thing to do.

Just ship in pieces and re-assemble; register as a home built.
