Moscow (CNN) -- The Russian president is fighting back: no, he did not steal a Super Bowl ring. And no, he's not rocking the diamond-encrusted prize on his finger, either.
President Vladimir Putin's spokesman denied accusations that the leader pocketed a Super Bowl ring that belonged to the New England Patriots' owner, Robert Kraft.
The alleged swipe occurred during Kraft's visit to St. Petersburg in 2005.
"I took out the ring and showed it to (Putin). And he put it on and he goes, 'I can kill someone with this ring,'" Kraft said, according to the New York Post. "I put my hand out and he put it in his pocket, and three KGB guys got around him and walked out."

The way Belichick, Brady and now Tebow are going, there will soon be enough Patriot Super Bowl rings to go around for every world leader, and then some.
Kraft said at the time he hadn’t meant to give the ring away, but said the White House urged him to treat it as a gift in the interest of international diplomacy, according to the New York Post.If this is true, then let the "White House" pay for it, whoever that is. Certainly isn't the taxpayer, by the way.
Slim/no chance of that ever happening. The US Taxpayer winds-up paying for everything, mistakes and all else. As long as the current, corrupt tax system is in place, it’s a bottomless trough for the criminal pols to suck from, for anything they want.
