D.C. Policeman Faces Gun Charge in Maryland

A D.C. police lieutenant has been charged with leaving a loaded gun where his son found it and took it to school.

Prince George's County court documents show Mark Antonio Hodge of Glenn Dale has been charged with leaving a loaded firearm in a place where he would have known that a minor would gain access to the firearm.

Officers were called to DuVal High School in Lanham March 27 for a report of a student with a firearm, according to court documents. Officers learned the 15-year-old had taken the gun from his home. He said his dad kept the weapon under some clothes in a closet.

It was unclear whether the gun was Hodge's service weapon. No one answered at a telephone number for Hodge on Friday.

The Heller decision specifically mentioned that it was unconstitutional to require guns to be locked up.

And what the h is with that kid?? He is old enough to know better.

He ‘finds’ his dad’s gun (what is he doing snooping in his dad’s room anyway?), steals it, takes it to school. What is going on in this world with these stupid kids??!!

Even worse, the penalty in my home for touching a firearm without permission, or any other gun safety infraction, was a year without shooting. I NEVER touched a gun without specific permission to touch that gun at that moment.

If I were a student at DuVal, I’d want to bring a firearm to school, too. A bit of a rough place.

I had my own 4-10 @ 12 but I was not allowed to pick it up unless I was with the old man. Freinds were not allowed to see
it. And it was locked in the gun safe. It was shown at the hunting lodge or on the hunt.

Maybe the kid wanted to scare a bully at school. Could have turned out badly.

Possible. I have heard of such cases. We just do not know enough yet.

He kept the gun hidden. Obviously, he could have done a better job, but how the heck was he to predict that his son would start rummaging through his clothes?

Maryland “Freak State” PING!

Parris Glendening vetoed a law that would have allowed county school boards to have gun education curricula, only because some school systems might have actually taken the kids to a gun range to fire guns.

Slaves do not need guns. A few can ce selected by the overseers to be given guns to keep the sheep in line, but overall the slaves have no ned for firearms or firearn training. They only need to learn how to bow to their masters and kiss the master’s ass.

Sounds like the father failed at properly instructing this kid in gun safety, as well. I hope that boy is in big trouble with the father.
