A grandmother in Milwaukie, Ore., is organizing a Glock Block, a pistol-packing group of neighbors that she said she hopes will help deter crime in her community...

Heh heh heh. Love it.
Wow these elderly folks are hot guns. No more Little Old Lady from Pasadena. If ODungo hears about this he may suck the NSA on them =)
I would go to anti-gun rallies and rob them.
“These guys need to know if youre going to pick on a little old lady, then lots of the ladies I know are packing [guns]. Theyre sweet ladies but if its their life, Im sorry youre going to lose yours, Tolonen said.”
— nuff said. :)
Though I support what they are doing it does remind me of some third world nations I have visited with tall walls, hired neighborhood guards, and vigilante justice.
It does not spell good things for our Republic that we are heading in this direction.
Only when a citizenry has surrendered their belief in their justice system and/or its elected leaders do you begin to see this type of behavior in a society. This corroded perception of our society lies directly at the feet of Obama. He himself ushered in this new reality.
If this continues we could see some real dark times.
I say again, however, that I do not believe that these residents have much choice.
It may take a good shooting or two to get the ideas across to the perps.
The sheriff say that guns aren’t the answer to property crimes. If the police were doing their job to catch and prosecute the perps, I would agree. If the cost is high enough the crooks move on. But when the police sit on their fat asses and do nothing the crooks think they have a zero expected cost to crime. But one or two of them getting shot will change their economic model.
I just pray that no non crooks get hurt.
This is the solution to local crime. The locals do the deterring.
Does the word “Treyvon” ring any bells?
How dare you impinge upon a drugged out thug, out earning money the only way he knows how. White people are targets, and our “friends” in DC intend to keep it that way.
Well, maybe you'll go to the gun shop and get a spiel about how this particular consignment .357 was owned by the proverbial little old lady from Pasadena who only used it on Sundays to repel boarders after church. Charles Bronson's mom, maybe? :-)
Self defense is a God given, constitutional right. You go, girls!
Armed citizens protecting their homes, properties and loved ones?
Sounds like a militia to me, which is fine.
Organized “official” community police were unknown to the Founders. People relied on their armed neighbors — and themselves — to keep the peace. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
Perhaps, besides the six watching the walls, another group could be together in the center of the small complex, doing whatever and immediately respond if a call came in. They could be at the problem area within one or one and a half minutes.
The problem here is no one but me stores anything. If we had a hurricane coming in, these in the townhouses rush to the store to get what they need for a few days and they basically eat junk those days.
If, really, the SHTF, people are going to die here within two weeks if there is no food and if the water stops, they will for sure be dead in four days.
I don't have an option but to lock my front door because I can't save the people in the other 60 townhouses.
Burglars in times like right now, don't have much of a chance in here and it's never happened. It takes too much work in get in here and then anything stolen would have to be put over the fence or over the gate to get it out as they can't get through the gate to bring in a vehicle.
I wouldn't feel safe in a house set off by itself on a regular street with all four sides to temp zombies and the front just a front on a street, open to anyone who wants to kick open the door.
Unfortunately, Oregon doesn’t have a Castle law ike Texas.
“Little old ladies” is only a figure of speech. There are a lot of “ladies” who carry weapons. Don’t mess with a lady.
Glock blocks. It has a nice ring to it. I’m not sure how Sig-Sauer feels about the free advertising for their business rivals, but that’s just how it goes...
Sig-Sauer towers?
