Senate rejects border fence
The Washington Times ^ | June 18, 2013 | Stephen Dinan

Minutes after the border fence, senators also voted to weaken current law that requires the government to have biometric checks such as fingerprints or eye-scans for every visitor to the U.S. — a recommendation of the 9/11 commission that looked into the terrorist attacks on Washington and New York.

Senators on Tuesday rejected building the 700 miles of double-tier border fencing Congress authorized just seven years ago, with a majority of the Senate saying they didn’t want to delay granting illegal immigrants legal status while the fence was being built.

The 54-39 vote to reject the fence shows the core of the immigration deal is holding. The vote broke mostly along party lines, though five Republicans, including Sen. Marco Rubio and the rest of the bill’s authors, voted against the fence, and two Democrats voted for it.

“they didn’t want to delay granting illegal immigrants legal status while the fence was being built.”

So the flood gate is open and will stay that way. There will be NO effort to stop the flow of illegals, and all of them will be given legal status. They obviously want to grant legal status to as many ILLEGAL ALIENS as is possible. Reason: VOTES and the perpetual erosion of the Constitution and OUR rights as citizens.

The new technology to build one of these "fence" thingies is years away.......years and years.....probably decades. This is new technology that has never before been attempted by human beings. It would entail actually digging small holes in the earth, pouring concrete into foundations, and then erecting a metal structure on top of those. This is a daunting task. Even NASA could not easily solve the complexities we are talking about here.............

The Republican Party is dead to me.

Really?

From the article you posted, but perhaps didn't read:

The 54-39 vote to reject the fence...broke mostly along party lines, though five Republicans, including Sen. Marco Rubio and the rest of the bill’s authors, voted against the fence, and two Democrats voted for it.

So 100% of Democrats less two voted against America and 100% of the GOP less five voted for America and the "Republican Party is dead to me" is your response?

That kind of loser mentality is what's killing us. Thank every Republican who is voting correctly and hammer the goofy half of the Gang of Eight, but don't throw out the whole thing.

Conservatives are reality based, remember?

Silly and a waste of energy. The GOP is on our side, if you read the article.

I suggest everyone change their affiliation from “republican” to “Independent”...tomorrow.

Already done. I haven't been a Republican since the lame-duck session in 2010, when the GOP aside while DADT was repealed and the Russians ran roughshod over us with the terms of NEW START. I don't trust anyone anymore... they all can be bought at the "right" price.

12 MILLION UNDOCUMENTED DEMS.

I'll bet it's at least double that.

“Harry Reid said the other day that it would “take decades” to secure the border.”

The first illegal immigrant amnesty was in 1986 I believe.

2.7 decades ago.

Mark Levin brought attention to Marco Rubio,

Brought attention to? That's an understatement. You need to go back and listen to some of the broadcasts from when Rubio was running for the senate.

Point is... Levin, Hanity, Rush.... these guys have a lot of power and with that power comes a lot of responsibility. We listen to people like Levin and we put a certain amount of trust in what they are saying. He was WAY wrong about Rubio, and we need to be really careful when we listen to these guys on the radio if they're gonna miss it that bad.

>>Just heard a report on radio about a possible Tuberculosis outbreak-—in a damned hospital!
First thing I said to the better-half was “I’ll bet it’s from an illegal, getting free healthcare”.<<

Maybe it was an illegal, but I can tell you with 100% certainty and first hand knowledge that a hospital here in the Houston area is bringing Filipino nurses in from the Philippines and they routinely test them for TB.

I am related to the person that worked in the HR department and their job was to assimilate these Filipino nurses. When this person found out that the last HR person in this position contracted TB from her exposure to the foreign nurses, she resigned her position at this hospital.

It was protocol at this hospital to periodically test for TB in these H1B’s because a large percentage of them test positive for TB antibodies but have not become full blown...a few have.

This is not whistling Dixie, this is the truth.

“...Levin is the guy who put Rubio where he is....”

VOTERS put Rubio where he is.

Levin has one vote, same as the rest of us.

He has a bullypulpit, sure, but ultimately it was up to the people that cast a ballot for him.

And Rubio evidently played the game well and fooled Levin. He’s a Politician, after all. They’re better than farmers at spreading manure around.

“...And the fence was already passed into LAW. WHY HASN’T IT BEEN BUILT?...”

And WHERE did the money that was appropriated for it go... Isn’t that criminal misappropriation of public funds (we used to call it “STEALING”) when Congress sets money aside for something and it disappears magically???
