Geez, why would they do that? Certainly propane is not used as a means of pressurizing a tank!
I enjoy putting a post on this board and then seeing responses from people that know more about the subject than myself. I enjoy anyone putting on a post and then seeing knowledgable responses.
The Air Force wanted to demonstrate what a center fuel tank explosion would look like. They couldn’t get Jet A to ignite so they turned to propane. They published that fact. It had valuable information to show what a center tank explosion would look like, such as metal expansion and design failure. Seems it didn’t match Flight 800 so the results were held private.
