Limbaugh Rips GOP For Being ‘Embarrassed’ Of Base: ‘Republican Party Hanging By A Thread’

On Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh revisited his earlier remark about the Republican Party being embarrassed of its base. In an argument pegged off the immigration reform debate, Limbaugh said the GOP is “hanging by a thread,” willing to sacrifice a few more elections due to losing its base.

“People have said the country is hanging by a thread,” Limbaugh noted. “Well so is the party. The Republican Party is hanging by a thread.”

Some do realize it, he added, pointing to the idea that “they’re embarrassed of their base and wouldn’t mind at all if the base left the Republican Party, even if it meant losing a couple of elections.” It’s either embarrassment or dislike, he said, describing the “caricature” of the “gun-toting, shotgun-shooting, tobacco-spitting crowd.”

They wouldn’t be bothered if that crowd that makes up the base left them, the radio host reiterated. But there’s one problem with that: Who will make up for them? If they think the Gang of Eight immigration bill will pick up the slack, Limbaugh said, “they have got another thing coming.”

“You cannot out-liberal a liberal,” he stated emphatically.

This member of the base is ashamed, embarrassed, and damned angry at Republican leadership,

People like Mccain, Graham, Hatch, Boehner, make me want to puke.

“I don’t know when it happened,...”

It may have happened after Lee Atwater left us in 1991, .... but really blossomed in 1998 during the Clinton impeachment when the party of jack*sses slandered and libeled Ken Starr while the stoopid party stood by not counter attacking the jack*sses... seeing some honorable, decent House members carry forward on the bill of impeachment even if it cost them their political careers and the stoopid senators left them out to dry.

“And McCain himself is acting as the spokesman for Obama and Al Qeada at the same time he’s supporting a border erasure bill that will cost us trillions.”

Yep, we are on the precipice of a huge fight. My last assessment of 1.2 billion glock cop killer rounds for Homeland Security tells me that these fat clowns won’t do well when Michiganders open fire at 300 yards and better.

Keep on truckin’, Michigan patriots.

All that we need is a new drug... perhaps Palinicillin.

“It disgusts me that clowns like McCain and Graham complain about us “extremists” ...”

Agree. Their silence in never describing the real extremists (pelosi, et al) as extremists is deafening.

I’m a firm believer in Christianity being far more vocal about politics than they are now but I don’t want them in office acting as clergymen.

My congressman is a Baptist minister but will not preach on the floor of the house. He gave the invocation on the house floor 1 time when he was invited to do so but otherwise stays away from religion unless some legislation deals with it.

I was refering to this:

“It disgusts me that clowns like McCain and Graham complain about us “extremists” while democrat policies are leading to young children being kicked out of school for pointing their fingers like guns. Nancy Pelosi is calling late term abortion “Sacred”. And McCain himself is acting as the spokesman for Obama and Al Qeada at the same time he’s supporting a border erasure bill that will cost us trillions.”

Just outstanding!

There are so many examples of democrat lunacy I could have used that I don’t even know where to start.

So you want un-moral or a-moral people turning this country around?

Good luck with that. You will need us strong moral people of great character to win the fight.

John Adams was right, this government is inadequate to govern unmoral people.

A few years ago when talk radio was on the rise (nationally and locally), then the Tea Party started to gain strength, I had a feeling this ship could be righted.

But I’m not so sure today. At least with out some draconian political moves. The choices for remedy seem severe and few.

I used to think the Republican leadership was just stupid.

But no one could get elected to public office and be as stupid as they pretend to be.

Stupid is random. Stupid decisions are like the flip of a coin.

The Republican leadership has followed a very specific pattern. They have done everything possible to hurt conservatives and to hurt moral, patriotic, hard working Americans. They have done everything to curry favor with the Washington establishment and the leftists who control the Democrat Party. They have refused to stand up for principle or for the people who make this country work.

Most Washington Republicans are working with the Democrats to destroy this great country. They pretend every once in a while to oppose the Democrats but it is phony.

I don’t trust them.

Charles actually seemed to be pulling for a reconciliation and accommodation by the mainstream Republicans and the Tea Partiers......

Krauthammer is desperately trying to keep Tea Partiers on the Republican Plantation.

You are right. If they were just stupid they would at least accidentally advance the American people's interests once in awhile.

Goldwater's most famous book and policy manifesto “Conscience of a Conservative” was actually written by Brent Bozell, a devout Catholic and William F. Buckley's brother in law. Goldwater was strongly influenced by Buckley too.

What is your source that Goldwater “saw no place for Christians in the Republican Party?”

today I heard Rush say something that I had never heard him say...that the Dems and the Pubbies are all alike, they all want power and it is the Government against the people. I am paraphrasing.

I came to that decision a while back. I was surprised to hear him say it so baldly.
