I’m not Catholic and I don’t know much about it but isn’t this the kind of thing that excommunication was invented for?
As someone outside of Catholicism I am always puzzled by the way Catholics like Pelosi can just say whatever they want and there is no outcry, that I can see, from their church.
I grew up around Southern Baptists and I’m pretty certain that if a Baptist politician made a habit of saying that abortion is totally inline with the his church the outcry from his fellow Baptists would be audible from Tanzania.

well, whatever else you think, I hope you can see that the myth that “all Catholics are brainwashed by the Church” is exactly that.

Today's Catholicism is a far cry from what it once was, pre-Vatican 2.

Raised as a Southern Baptist and I can guarantee you there would be a huge uproar.

Went to a Christmas program when I first came to Houston in the mid-80’s at one of the Baptist churches. First half was secular. There were people dancing on the stage. My son leaned over and mentioned that his grandmother was probably rolling over in her grave to think that we were watching such a display in the church.

Did Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore or Bill Moyers ever get excommunicated by the Baptists?

The Catholic church takes excommunication VERY seriously. The church believes that when they excommunicate someone, they are literally condemning that person to hell. So, since the church views their role as getting everybody they can into heaven, they don't rush into excommunicating people.

Should Nancy be excommunicated? I believe so. Why? It's not because she believes in the right to abortion - we are human, and everyone sins. It's that at the same time she is pushing abortion rights, she holds out the fact that she's Catholic, and that it's her 'Catholic faith' that guides her to her belief that abortion is morally righteous. So, the Church needs to look at the effect that Nancy Pelosi has on the souls of others. Is her actions leading the the possible damnation of others? If the Church believes so, then it can become like a case of justifiable homicide, damn Nancy Pelosi to limit the damage she can cause to other souls.

I believe Nancy crossed a line recently, and that line will lead to her excommunicated from the Church.
