Snowden heads to Venezuela via Moscow, Havana: airline source

Former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden will fly from Moscow to Cuba on Monday and then plans to go to Venezuela, a source at the Russian airline Aeroflot said on Sunday.

The source said Snowden was already on his way to Moscow from Hong Kong and would leave for Havana within 24 hours.

The South China Morning Post also reported that Snowden had left Hong Kong for Moscow and that his final destination might be Ecuador or Iceland. The WikiLeaks anti-secrecy website said Snowden was heading for an unnamed "democratic nation".

The flight to Moscow prompted speculation that Snowden might remain in Russia, whose leaders accuse the United States of double standards on democracy and have championed public figures who challenge Western governments.

But Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said he was unaware of Snowden's plans and the Foreign Ministry declined immediate comment on whether he had asked for asylum.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers: “Edward Snowden’s reported choice to fly to Cuba and Venezuela undermines his whistleblower claims... Everyone of those nations is hostile to the United States, the Michigan Republican said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” news talk show.

Flights from SVO to UIO (Quito, his apparent ultimate destination) are kind of difficult if Q-Group and the FBI are after you. Basically, do you prefer to get grabbed in Madrid, Amsterdam, Paris, or New York?

On the other hand, Aeroflot has a non-stop to Havana (12h 40m) for only £689.91. (I had to find that one using a UK service, since Kayak is forbidden to search for flights to Cuber.) I see there is also a non-stop available from Havana to Quito (2h 30m, £306.50), so it's not clear why Caracas is on his itinerary.

So am I correct in understanding he’s in the air right now, maybe 1/4 of the way to Havana?

He's probably booked on Aeroflot flight SU 150, a non-stop (important) departing at 14:05 (06:05 Eastern). There is an earlier flight at 07:25, but it makes a stop in Paris.

Necrovore, great post. Amazing how conservatives are so easily fooled over and over by the Media and Our Dear Govt. Just like the beaten spouses that keep coming back for more - they never learn.

Let me clearly state - I COULD CARE LESS IF HE IS A SPY. Our country is filled with traitorous scum. Worrying about what Snowden gave to anyone is like me worrying about a guy 20 miles from me pointing a 22 rifle at me when I already have 3 Apache Helicopters over my house ready to unload on me.

Great analogy! The traitors have let in millions of muslims who hate us with a passion. In population we probably have as many muslin.s here now as in some of the Arab countries. (Did our government allow millions of Nazis to immigrate here during WWII?)
Meanwhile after letting millions of the enemy move into our towns and neighborhoods, they want to disarm us. And DHS calls conservatives and patriots potential terrorists. And are now spying on all of us.

The enemy is within the gates!

According to Fox News, Assange took refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in England, and has apparently been collaborating on the outcome. Deep pockets are also supporting Snowden.

As badly as the U.S.A. government ‘wanted’ Bobby Fischer he managed to avoid ‘capture’ for decades. Iceland is the only country on the planet that agreed to give him asylum.

Iceland might be an uphill battle for Snowden. Icelandic MP Birgitta Jónsdóttir writes:

When it was brought to my attention that Snowden was looking to Iceland for political asylum, I offered to help figure out the legal options for such a request.

These are my findings: Snowden should not come to Iceland unless he will request and be granted citizenship by the Icelandic Parliament. Citizenship is the only legal protection that will shelter him from any demands of extradition to the USA. The ideal situation would be for Snowden to be granted a Icelandic passport as was the case with Bobby Fischer.

Seeking political asylum is a process that can take long time, and there are no guarantees granted against extradition while the process is ongoing. However since Snowden faces possible death sentence his case is stronger, for it is illegal to extradite a person who faces death sentence from Iceland. It is important to note that Iceland has a terrible track record when it comes to granting political asylum to people seeking shelter, as it is hardly never granted and thus a too dangerous path to be recommended for Snowden.

I thought that you had asked which polls showed a majority wanting Snowden prosecuted. I was answering that question not suggesting anything about your personal views.

Are you asking ‘English’ deep pocket support for Snowden? That’s what I’m wondering too..

Telling ANY foreigners about what and how you are hacking is treason. Violation of security protocol. Period.

This has nothing to do with Uhbama. It would be the same security breach as under Bush or Klintoon.

Just because he’s right to reveal something violating our rights as individuals doesn’t give him carte blanche to hand out the nation’s plans to foreigners.

>>> England? <<<

Are you positing that Snowden is heading to England?

I believe England would agree to the extradition of Snowden to the United States, thus the reason Assange is holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.

I asked because England is no where close to where the MSM said he may be going. Im a bit surprised. Plus, he may have trouble leaving the embassy in The UK.

Can you help me with a post/article where Snowden revealed how the US spies? Not just the name of the network, but how.

Tell us what he actually gave to anyone? You can’t because you don’t know. Don’t be repeating the Obama cronies lies and the leftist media who are demonizing him, and expect us thinking people to buy it for one second.

We do know he exposed illegal unconstitutional activity by the US govt. I support the Constitution and freedoms and rights of the American people not this corrupt govt and all it’s tentacles of power.

Yep. Defending the constitution is a very different thing from what this Quisling punk did, after he lied and cheated his way into the Termite mound.
