There are some major flaws with this.

The biggest, perhaps, is that the President in this scenario would have invited in the UN and ChiComs as “peacekeepers” fairly soon after the shooting started.

The civil war wouldn’t have ended nearly as quickly, or as neatly. Particularly with the ChiComs flooding the country with their vast excess surplus of young males.

Yeah, that's what the 1st Marines were thinking in late November 1950, iirc.
