Residents of a Jersey City home where a 17-year-old was shot in the face early Sunday said yesterday that a 16-year-old was showing a gun to other juveniles at the house when the weapon accidentally fired.
A bullet blew through the 17-year-olds cheek, according to residents at the two-family home on Danforth Avenue near Old Bergen Road.
The 17-year-old remained hospitalized yesterday in the Intensive Care Unit at Jersey City Medical Center and was listed in stable condition, a hospital spokesman said.
The 16-year-old, a friend of a minor who lives at the Danforth house, has been charged with aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, police said.

No, the weapon did not accidentally fire...
The weapon accidently fired? All by itself? I hate it when that happens.
Not unless the firearm is defective or has been modified.
So, the kid claims he found the gun in an alley. After the shooting, the kid claims he tossed it in a garbage can. Cops did find it in said garbage can. Uh, huh. Whatever. The Brotherhood of the Traveling Gun.
blah - cops did NOT find gun.
“Not unless the firearm is defective or has been modified.”
I’m sure that this time as well as the other 99.9% times this happens we will find that the weapon was modified with a trigger finger.
The media is never talking about that, though.
They mean that guns just accidentally fire themselves.
It’s standard fare for an anti-gun stance.
