MANATEE COUNTY - A burglary suspect sped away from a Bradenton house in a hurry after the 84-year-old homeowner confronted him with a pistol.

The homeowner, Anthony Disanto, arrived home Sunday and found a newer-model VW parked in the driveway of his home on the 2800 block of 26th Ave. Dr. W.

As a burglary suspect emerged from the home, Disanto approached him with his gun.

The suspect got into his car, and as he drove away, he hit one of the victim’s vehicles.

Disanto warned the suspect that he would shoot and the suspect drove through the yard and onto the road.

As he was driving down the street, Disanto fired two shots.

Disanto told officials he believes one shot hit the door of the suspect’s car.

Another shot fired by Disanto hit a neighbor’s car in the rear window.

The victim’s car that was struck by Disanto sustained no noticeable damage.

Officials are searching for the burglary suspect.

At 84, he probably remembers when the courts found "fleeing felon" laws acceptable. I think we are moving back in that direction.

I lived in Bradenton for six months. I can’t imagine not surviving there without our Shar Pei (which is the cute version of the pit bull) and our hand gun.

So yeah... go up to the suburbs of St Pete or Tampa, then you might have gotten away with it. That’s where the libs live.

Good for Disanto. That might have saved his life.

As he was driving down the street, Disanto fired two shots.

Idiotic and irresponsible. Forget about the suspect for a moment. Disanto could have hit an innocent person driving down that street. He could have hit someone walking on the sidewalk. And for what? For nothing. Disanto wasn't protecting a life at this point, or even property. If I were the local prosecutor, I wouldn't ask for jail time, but I'd sure charge him.

Last night, in Ft. Pierce, FL, this thief broke a window while trying to enter the home of a Police Lt. who was home at the time.

The Lt. went around the side of his house and confronted the low-life, held him at gun point, until the Police arrived.

They are getting bold, the Lt.’s police car was in the drive way.

You mean like the NYC prosecutors charged the NY cops who shot and injured nine innocent bystanders in NYC when they shot a murder suspect? Oh wait. They WEREN'T charged with anything.

Firing wildly down the street could have ended in a neighbor being killed.

Shooting at a fleeing Felon, in most jurisdictions, not permitted since the 1970’s. If he were Wyatt Earp and hit the DRIVER, now what do you have? A car going x miles an hour without a driver.

The cops in NYC were shooting at an armed man who had just killed a male, was walking towards them, refused to drop the weapon. The injuries were “shrapnel”injuries, from the concrete potted planters that are used as security to prevent autos crashing into buildings

This is a lie by ommission. Some were. Some injuries were actually bullet wounds caused by police shooting at a guy in a crowd.
