Longtime Democratic U.S. Rep. Edward Markey defeated Republican political newcomer Gabriel Gomez in a special election on Tuesday for the state's U.S. Senate seat long held by John Kerry, a race that failed to draw the attention that the state's 2010 special Senate election did.

Looking at the overall state map at the Boston Glob, there is a sea of red, but all blue where the population centers are: the cities (I’m not counting Western Mass., which has a low population, heavily moonbat because of the colleges). Cities seem to foster dependence on government, which seems to make them vote for more government. I’m going out to buy some Mylanta to swig for the first photo I see of Fauxcahontas and Fast Eddie holding hands and beaming into each other’s eyes.

I agree but the SEAL is a big time RINO.

A SEAL should never turn into a RINO.

The democRATs rejected G-d at their convention, they would easily reject a Navy SEAL.

Gomez said earlier this week he was going to win the Latino communities (Lawrence, Chelsea and other areas he mentioned). If he doesn't win those, this proves they want handouts like much of America and will vote for a Markey before a Gomez when it comes to freebies. The GOP needs to awake from its slumber.

Limbaugh said that when you run a real democrat liberal and a RINO liberal the people tend to vote for the real thing.

I read something about Gomez a while back, he “supports the second amendment” BUT wants to close the “gun show loophole” and have “universal background checks”.

This is elections now go in uber liberal states, for ever & ever amen.

After Marco's amnesty this is the way it'll be in the rest of the country.

There just won't be enough people who love this country for its own sake to make a difference.

Ed Markey is a pig. But I am not surprised to see him win. It wasn’t about Gomez at all. It is the Dem machine and, if we cannot figure out how they consistently throw election to themselves, we are so screwed.

The 0bama voter fraud machine is well oiled after the 2012 win.

You don't need any voter fraud for a Democrat to win in Massachusetts. The Useful Idiot voters in the People's Republic of Massachusetts gladly vote for almost anyone with a "D" by their name.

Judging by many talk show callers, the people who did vote for Gomez seemed to be voting against Markey who is an old school liberal pansy.

a review of Holyoke, 41% Latino

Scott Brown 3,771 (44%) Martha 4,869

Gomez 1,849 (38%) Markey 2,942 (61%)

2013 Holyoke turnout was 55% of 2010 turnout.

So the LATINO strategy is brilliant, eh?
