Patriots' Hernandez taken into custody

American football player Aaron Hernandez has been taken from his home in handcuffs after a Boston semi-pro football player was found dead in an industrial park a mile from his house.

Family members say the dead man, 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, was dating a woman whose sister is Hernandez's fiancee. Officials ruled the death a homicide but did not say how Lloyd died.

It's unclear why Hernandez, who plays for the New England Patriots, was being taken into custody Wednesday morning and put into the back of a marked police car.

State police have searched in and around Hernandez's home in North Attleborough several times. At least three search warrants have been issued in connection with the investigation.

“He had some issues in the past, but nothing of this magnitude.”

I know this is nit picking but he did shoot another “friend” in the face. :-)

Belichek must have seen the writing on the wall. Picked up Tebow who can be converted into a first class tight end. The Pats won’t miss a step in the position.

Since the end of the SuperBowl, 28 NFL players have been arrested..

With Hernandez' arrest, what happens to the bonus they paid him?

Watching the video over and over..it seems that the cops sent two detectives who look like NFL linebackers to take him into custody. IMHO, they should have sent the two smallest female cops to arrest him..it would have made a great picture.

It's unclear why Hernandez was being taken into custody

Unclear? How about suspicion of murder?

As a Pats fan, he is dead to me already.

He may be guilty of nothing, but it sure doesn't look that way, and he hasn't covered himself in glory, either. I personally think he is guilty of worse than obstruction of justice, but it is just a gut feeling. I could be wrong. And I would understand panic in someone, but...it doesn't seem to fit here, although I am pretty sure he has panic now.

The guy had talent, that much is true. But I detest his hotdogging and trash talking, and he appeared worse than anyone else on the team at that aspect. I just don't like this behavior. He always came across as a punk to me.

It was this, though a great picture and a great touchdown, that displayed how much I disliked this aspect of him. He got this defensive back pretty pissed off with this high stepping displayed below, which was accompanied by trash talk:

Under any other circumstances, if you didn't know what was going on, this would be a great football picture.

I tend to agree with you..that he may well be accused of murder...there's no reason for such a public arrest otherwise.

Also, what happened to the other two guys who were with them. Has anyone heard from them? Or have they already cut deals?

If he is charged with murder...the trial will be BIGGER than OJ..wonder if Marcia Clark's hired an agent?

NFL arrest rate is dramatically below the national average. There’s always going to be some bad apples.

Yeah... that is curious. Hernadez was at the top of the world in regards to a profession. Why would he destroy that?

Drugs?

Glad to be a Packer fan at the moment.

I hate this whole gang mentality. Screw that. Anyone who has any connections to gangs in any way is subhuman to me.

I hate it and everything about it. It this dumb POS cannot extricate himself from the gang, the NFL, the Patriots, and society should extricate themselves from him.

I agree. This is not an indictment of the NFL, professional sports or the Patriots.

If anything, this is an indictment of Aaron Hernandez and the people he associates with off the field.

One would think that for the Pats to release him so fast, they had to have gotten a “heads-up” as to what the charges are..I think it’s murder..
