The Terminal: Snowden stuck in Moscow airport, 'can't buy ticket with invalid passport'

Edward Snowden is not booked to fly out of Moscow over the next three days, and with no valid passport, the NSA whistleblower might be stuck in airport limbo indefinitely.

The hot pursuit of Snowden has ground to a halt four days after the former CIA technician, wanted in the US on espionage charges, flew into Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport from Hong Kong.

Washington, which wants Snowden for leaking details of the National Security Agency’s (NSA) dragnet telephone and Internet surveillance programs, charges that there is a clear legal basis for Moscow to hand him over.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who confirmed that Snowden had arrived in Moscow as a transit passenger despite speculation to the contrary, rebuffed US demands on Tuesday.

“We can only extradite any foreign citizens to such countries with which we have signed the appropriate international agreements on criminal extradition,” Putin said, adding that as Snowden had committed no crime on Russian soil, he is free to travel at will.

Could Putin really be saying that if the US signs "appropriate international agreements on criminal extradition" than the US should hand over George Soros to Russia and Russia will give Snowden to the US. I believe this is a fair trade.

Snowden had to be shockingly naive to think he could waltz into Russia with a computer full of US secrets and think they wouldn't make sure they got them. I was sympathetic to Snowden, but he really is turning into something between a useful idiot and a traitor.

Russia can issuwe him a Russian pasport any time they want to. Also, if they did make him a de facto Russian citizen, they would also have to issue him an Internal Russian passport, too as all Russins must carry their Internal passport where ever they go for that "papers please" moment.

What’s even funnier is that the Chinese are now saying that Snowden’s passport was invalid so when they saw the extradition papers they complained to the US that his passport number was missing in the paperwork.

Yes. I am glad he brought more info about spying of Americans out into the open, but he has shown by his words and deeds to be more a citizen of the world, than an American, to put it mildly.
