The rumors of the demise of Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubios presidential prospects in Iowa as a result of his role in crafting immigration reform are somewhat exaggerated, said Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley on Thursday.
Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King, a fierce opponent of immigration reform, has said that Rubio is toast in the Iowa caucuses, should he run for president in 2016. A number of Iowa conservatives expressed similar opinions to the Washington Examiners Byron York last month.
But Grassley said that in 2013, it was too early to make such predictions.
Its pretty hard for me to tell you three years out, he said, speaking to the press just 40 minutes before the Senate was set to vote on the comprehensive immigration reform bill crafted by the bipartisan Gang of Eight, a group of which Rubio is a part. It may influence some people right now, but right now is not 2016.

Instead of ABO, it’ll be ABC.
For me it sure as hell does.
I love how these d*ckheads tell US how to/who to vote for.
Though the GOPe apparently still hasn't learned that the voters don't have to do as they say, sadly.
At first I listened to his talk about border security uber alles, but it got worse with each day as it became obvious he was lying about the security issue.
Every day, more lies.
Stick a fork in him, unless he becomes a democrat he's going to be primaried......
We are in the Internet Age.
A politician can no longer do evil, and escape political punishment.
Millions of Conservatives will contribute time and money to defeat Rubio.
Rubio showed the world that he is a liar, who promoted Amnesty in a Bill sponsored by radical leftist Schumer.
We will not forget. No, we will never forget.
Yep, and, of course, we’ll get the usual bleating of “if you don’t vote for (fill in the blank), then (fill in the blank) will win.”
It’s how they’ve managed to prop up mediocrity since Dole in 96, failing to answer the question, “How does constantly rewarding stark mediocrity lead to excellence?” It’s a question they’d rather not hear.
It does as far as I’m concerned.
LOL.
Maybe the best scenario is that the Gop-e implodes sooner than later. The Gop-e are not about the base nor their own platform. They are the root of our problem; no opposition to the other views. Nothing, will ever change until we have a fight of the conservative wing to moderate wing in this party. Imo.
Actually, it boosts Rubio’s 2016 prospects because of crossover votes messing with our primaries. The far left will vote in our primaries to choose Rubio for us (with no intention of supporting him against Hillary), once again sticking us with someone so distasteful that many conservatives will stay home.
So Chuck thinks we will vote for Schumer’s little sidekick? The US Senate needs to completely gutted!
Sorry, it most certainly does.
I hope it was Marco Rubio’s secret plan to get elected to push Amnesty, because he’s not going to get a chance to do anything else from here on out.
It’s Ted Cruz or bust ... for me any way.
