Paula Deen's upcoming cookbook, currently the No. 1 seller on Amazon.com, has been dropped by its publisher.
In a brief statement Friday, Ballantine Books announced it had canceled publication of "Paula Deen's New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up." The book was scheduled for October.

All the sweeter if Paula gets rich off a book that would not have made anywhere near the splash.
Just sent Random House/Ballantine a short but sweet note expressing my dismay and future support of their products.
I hope they take a financial smacking over this...

You took the words right out of my mouth. I, too, think this is way overboard. Someone has it in for this woman & big time. Something happened & she is being made an example of. I just wish she’d let us all in on it.
The libs have been after her for a decade....They despise her largely because she represents everything they hate about the south. In short they believe that burning the south and killing most of the men was not enough punishment for what they believe was a war that was all about slavery and that the south somehow invented it.

There is something strangely odd about people that would march out in the freezing cold with candles lit begging for mercy for a prisoner on death row about to be put to death for some heinous crime . . . because now he is sorry for it . . .

I hope another publisher picks it up and I hope this action by the publisher is enough of a breach of contract that Paula Deen can sue and recoup some of the loss.
I am sure another publisher will step up and take on this project—That or Ms. Deen should self Publish. It will not lose money—its a sure bet best seller.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the publisher claims that she violated some so-called “morality clause” in her contract. Only problem with that, though; is that they get to decide what is moral and what is not.

On the same side of my argument you had a seasoned Senator from Virginia who was once a Grand Wizard of the KKK, but he renounced the South and his former life...
Paula Dean was proud of her heritage as most southerners are, and thus she did not deserve the pardon from the wizards of morality.......errrr.....Progressive Values...which they don't even believe in anyway and just use it to claim they are relevant.
Other than a lawsuit that I thought everyone knew about, regarding a former black employee who claimed she was racist, which resulted in someone making her deposition public that set off this entire episode, I know of no other reason why the left hates her guts....They hate her because what she is...plain and simple...and they see her demise as a prize.

She could make a ton more money doing her own publishing and broadcasting.
