Isn’t there some sort of go-around procedure whereby Americans could exert their will? Aside from torches and pitchforks, that is. Mass protests? Referendum? Cutting off the allowance of the governing class?
No, I guess not. And in the absence of any such procedures, we must assume the consent of the governed.

This assumes that there is mass outrage at a ruling like this.
1) Most Americans don’t even know of this ruling. They are the Low-Information Voters.
2) Even if some of them knew, many WILL NOT CARE. They will reason that they don;t use contraception, or they’re not business owners, etc.
3) Religious Employers (those that are big enough to pay for healthcare coverage) are not rich, powerful or as many as we expect them to be.
The only institution I see with enough clout to fight this is the Roman Catholic Church.
As for the Roman Catholic laiety supporting the church, forget about it. The Majority voted for Obama last November.
