A Hinds County circuit court judge, initially appointed to the bench by a Democrat governor, granted the wishes of a Democrat prosecutor on Friday in an “emergency hearing” to halt implementation of a gun bill opposed by Democrat lawmakers, the Associated Press reported . Judge Winston Kidd issued a temporary injunction after Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith requested that he block a new law from going into effect.
That law, House Bill 2, “Weapons; clarification of definition of concealed,” which was to commence on Monday, is one of two “gun owner protection bills” signed into law by Gov. Phil Bryant in March.
“For the purposes of this section, ‘concealed’ … shall not include … a loaded or unloaded pistol carried upon the person in a sheath, belt holster or shoulder holster that is wholly or partially visible, or carried upon the person in a scabbard or case for carrying the weapon that is wholly or partially visible,” the bill states, essentially clarifying that open carrying of firearms by non-prohibited persons in non-prohibited locations is lawful activity.
In an unabashed feat of judicial and linguistic contortion, Kidd ruled that specific language is “vague,” and justified his injunction on the grounds that allowing the bill

Many of us suspected the demonic-rats would find a willing judge at the midnight hour.
It would seem that serious consideration should be given to impeachment proceedings against this judge.
Absolutely agree but am not at all familiar with the process in MS.
Just read his bio and it's very impressive as far as liberalism goes and being a past officer in the NAACP but he certainly leaves a lot to be desired regarding the rule of law.
Who says they are disarmed, regardless of what the law states?
A cynical person would say they don't want their young people shot by armed white victims, when the young blacks are engaged in harmless play like the Knockout Game?
I wish about 100,000 armed citizens would stand outside the Judge’s courthouse and yell “Molon Labe.”
When I worked in a doctors office one of our patients used her concealed carry photo as i.d. She was black. I’m sure there are more black people who have concealed carry permits. We just don’t see them in the media advocating for it.

I just do not see conservatives getting injunctions against laws they disagree with in the same consistency as do Dems/libs.
Conservatives, virtually by definition, believe in the rule of law.
“Progressives” virtually by definition, believe in the rule of man.
It’s time to stop playing around with judges that behave this way. Impeach him and get him off the bench.
What a surprise, where was this clown when jim hood was making his and un-real “vague” interpertations of concealed and not concealed when he was attempting to make law breakers of law abiding citizens. Get rid of them both.
The legislature should say screw the commie judge(that’s exactly what he is)and go ahead and implement the law. I’m real tired of one person shitcanning the will of the voters and it is always the left. Always.
Because their people are most likely to be shot due to high rates of criminality in much of the black community. While they may be criminals, they are still friends, neighbors, and relatives.
Sad truth, but there it is.

It does not leave me with much hope for rapprochement with a large part of the Black community.
Now that I look more closely, this appears to be by the author of Unintended Consequences.
I’m betting and hoping that the Governor, and the Repubs that tried to put sanity and Constitutional rights into perspective will not waste a lot of time putting this back on track. Amazing that a Black judge would be such a willing tool - guess he likes plantation life as long as he’s in the big house instead of the shack.

I have been reading that several sheriffs are saying that it only applies to one county.
