If Ronald Reagan were posting on FR, many here would call him a “RINO”. Chasing a mirage seems to be more highly valued, than facing reality.
It always reminds me of the Reagan quote:
“Ronald Reagan on the importance of political compromise(in his own words)
An American Life (his autobiography) | 8/7/03 | Ronald Reagan

“When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn’t like it.
“Compromise” was a dirty word to them and they wouldn’t face the fact that we couldn’t get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don’t get it all, some said, don’t take anything.
“I’d learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: ‘I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.’
“If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that’s what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.”

Palin was able to work with Dems like Reagan did because she attacked the Murkowski GOP machine on her way to being governor in Alaska.
Then when she became VP candidate for the GOP, the Dems turned on her and she lost the ability to govern in Alaska.
The economic turmoil upon us with worse to come may provide a catalyst for abandonment of the two big parties and the emergence of a new one.
Palin may again be able to govern............
Thank you for telling the truth..
I dont know about you, said Reagan in 1975, but Im impatient with those Republicans who, after the last election, rushed into print saying we must broaden the base of our party, when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.
Dont give up your ideals, dont compromise, dont turn to expediency and dont, for heavens sake, having seen the inner workings of the watch dont get cynical. Ronald Reagan, 1976
A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers.
Ronald Reagan 1975
Whatever compromised wins, have been long outlasted, by the losses. Are you sure, your parent guardian, knows you are posting?
