A group of atheists unveiled a monument to their non-belief in God on Saturday to sit alongside a granite slab that lists the Ten Commandments in front of the Bradford County courthouse.
As a small group of protesters blasted Christian country music and waved Honk for Jesus signs, the atheists celebrated what they believe is the first atheist monument allowed on government property in the United States.
American Atheists sued to try to have the stone slab with the Ten Commandments taken away from the courthouse lawn in this rural, conservative north Florida town best known for the prison that confines death row inmates. The Community Mens Fellowship erected the monument in whats described as a free speech zone. During mediation on the case, the atheist group was told it could have its own monument, too.

I think tomorrow I’ll go up to the road and build my own little monument to my non-belief in the tooth fairy. My lack of belief should be documented for posterity.
wonder how many Obama welfare checks were donated to assemble that ‘monument’.
They built a monument to nothing? How pathetically pointless.
To be blunt, if you claim to be an atheist, yet you waste precious moments of your finite existence shaking your fist at that which you claim does not exist, you’re either an idiot or you’re in denial.
In reality, it seems to be a monument to their egos.
Looking forward :)
Atheists believe in god - an extremely small god, themselves - they substitute for a God they are accountable to for their sin and sins.
The first four for sure.
Apart from the logical contradiction...
LOL!
Yep,
A monument to having some spare cash to waste.
Would love to see a news story in the future “Athiest struck by lightning sitting at monument”
Funny, I went to the local botanical garden this morning and thought about the gifts from God that surrounded me and perhaps the purpose of a good botanist is to help the rest of us unlock more of these gifts. By using these gifts wisely, we have the power to feed everyone as Jesus did, create untold aesthetically pleasing environments and the ability to heal. That is good science.
Not that this one has anything to do with the subject but....I love watching the children in the garden. This morning I was mowed down by a pack of siblings eager to get to the maze (the toddler couldn’t figure out how to navigate around a strange adult so cute). 1013, 1913, the same thing could have happened.
The Jerry Seinfeld effect: A movement about nothing.
Monument to nothing?
Monument to self.
Like note to self, with a side of ego.
Respect for God, and your fellow man...
Now there’s something to throw fear into the heart and mind of every human. /s
Atheists, believe as you wish. I have no problem with that. Since I don’t go out and target you, could you grow up and not go out and target me?
1, 2, and 3 since they all refer to God, His Name, and His day for worship.
That guy just farted on the monument!
How disrespectful of, uh, I don’t know.
Let me know when you do one. I would like to read it...
Would be funny if the same thing that happened to the Philistines in 1 Samuel 5 happened again:
5 After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. 2 Then they carried the ark into Dagons temple and set it beside Dagon. 3 When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! They took Dagon and put him back in his place. 4 But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained. 5 That is why to this day neither the priests of Dagon nor any others who enter Dagons temple at Ashdod step on the threshold.
