Drawing attention back towards the 2014 senate race, I just wanted to remind people that electing real conservatives is essential, not just in generals but in primaries.

Greg Brannon is facing off against establishment RINO Thom Tillis, NC State House Speaker, who has been involved in all sorts of Rovian backroom deals to undermine conservatives. He's even being censured by his own party.

Brannon is a Tea Party candidate in the vein of Rand Paul, and is a terrific spokesman for the cause of shrinking government. You can listen to a 2010 speech by him here.

and his campaign website is here if you wish to learn more or donate.

Karl Rove is looking to detonate grassroots candidates early. We have to fight these establishment crooks wherever we can, and I believe Brannon is a good enough candidate to warrant our support.

This is for fundraising (a good senate candidate needs a good fundraising effort against liberal RINOS).

Who is Rove’s candidate for this seat? The incumbent is a niece of Lawton Chiles. This is the Helms seat.

Although this indeed is the Senate seat formerly held by the great Jesse Helms,Hagan’s immediate predecessor was Elizabeth Dole who grew up in NC but was painted as a Washington insider by Hagan in 2008. Elizabeth Dole was imminently more qualified than Kay Hagan, but did not take Hagan’s candidacy seriously enough until it was too late. Still, it took Obama’s strong showing in NC in 2008 to enable her to win the seat.

Rove would likely back Thom Tillis

Gay Pagan is beatable. I’m not sure whether to put her down as more or less beatable than Mark Begich in Alaska, but she one of the vulnerable six we need to pick off.

She is most definitely beatable! That was my point. She and Beverly Purdue both benefited from the heavy turn out in NC in 2008 because Obama was at the top of the ticket. Unfortunately for her, that condition will not exist in 2014. By the way, I read somewhere that Thom Tillis’s fund raising is not going so well.

Hopefully, this guy Brannon will get the support of the Senate Conservatives. They (tend to) support Tea Party candidates over RINO/squishes.

My memory is not so good. Have they ever supported people we were opposed to? This is DeMint’s group, right?

I notice on their website they have a rundown of the states in play, and the candidates already running. The two most high profile candidates so far, Mike Rounds (former ND governor) and Shelley Moore Capito (daughter of Arch Moore) have been rejected by the group as too moderate.

Yes, Senate Conservatives was started by Jim DeMint.

Have they ever supported people we were opposed to?

Well, they supported Marco The Rube and Jeff McFlake...back when these two ran on opposing ANY amnesty, but they've also supported Sen Ted Cruz and Sen Mike Lee. You can't win/know 'em all, but at least they try!

Thanks! I wasn't thinking. The spell check did not pick it up since both are words and I did spell the wrong word correctly. My pet peeve is the misuse of “affect”and “effect”which IMO are so easy to differentiate.
