The Attempted Extortion of Paula Deen (This isn't a story about racism. It's about $1.25 Million)
American Thinker ^ | 06/30/2013 | John Leonard

The real story behind the Paula Deen scandal can be summed up in a single word: greed. The American judicial system and the media are being used as formidable weapons in a brazen attempt to extort money from Ms. Deen, in my opinion.

This isn't a story about racism. It's all about the money.

The mainstream media have reported with glee only some of the gory details as Paula Deen's financial empire continue to crumble. The Food Channel, Wal-Mart, Target, and the publisher of her bestselling cookbook all have abruptly terminated their relationship with Ms. Deen. The firestorm erupted after it was widely reported that Ms. Deen gave a deposition in a civil lawsuit in which she admitted using the N-word.

Rarely if ever mentioned by the national press is the context in which the word was used, or the reason the deposition became public knowledge.

No one is interested in defending the use of that particular word, including this writer.

But for the record, the specific instance in which Ms. Deen admitted to using that specific word was in the privacy of her own home, used to describe a robber who had pointed a gun at her head. The mainstream media also doesn't seem to care that Ms. Deen could easily have lied about that specific incident, yet chose to tell the truth under oath.

Apparently there's a zero tolerance policy when certain people use the forbidden N-word.

Never mind that the epithet was uttered in privacy, after Ms. Deen had suffered considerable duress of being robbed at gunpoint.

That the usage became public knowledge only when Jackson's attorney began conducting a smear campaign intended to inflict irreparable harm on Ms. Deen's businesses also seems to be irrelevant information to the drive-by media.

Don't forget when Barbara Walters said in 2011 of the book,
"You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast. You tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch. And french fries. Doesn't it bother you that you're adding to this?"

It is also the food police Nazi's

What the destruction of Paula Deen is really about is creating a distraction for Obama’s scandals. The liberals are willing to eat their own in order to protect their dear leader.

she is narcissistic for thinking she could admit to using the word and getting away with it and she is an obummer voter, so the heck with her. the funny thing is I wonder what percentage of her sales are actually to blacks. instead of worrying that they’re living like animals, dying in record numbers, have no education and are going nowhere, they worry about this. incredible.

I admit I laugh when an Obot gets destroyed by the people they promote...probably because I understand that we likely will be shooting at each other soon enough! When the largest political party in the country illegally certifies someone as president and then all of these people fawn over him...the end is nigh!

Deen even recently told the Washington Examiner, “[Michelle Obama] probably ate more than any other guest I ever had on the show! She kept eating even during commercials. Know what [the Obamas’] favorite foods are? Hot wings.”

She paints a picture of Obama that’s a far cry from the first lady who was photographed holding a worm she pulled from a vegetable garden yesterday.

According to the Enquirer, Obama now regrets going on Deen’s show. “Michelle’s spitting mad,” a source told the paper. “She thinks Paula is trying to smear her and her family just as the 2012 presidential election race swings into gear.”

Yep. At this point people of a certain hue can realistically expect to lose their livelihoods if they even recite a list of Richard Pryor albums, or Joseph Conrad novels, within earshot of anyone. We have gone insane.

Looks like the word nigger has became a extortion tool so now 99.95 of the people in this country can be expected to pay up?.

Well, she already degraded herself for the approval of racists and moochers — the Obamas.

Don't be disturbed. This mess is Paula Deen’s fault, no one else’s. She has distracted our attention from Obama’s scandals successfully. I have to admit that I did feel a bit gleeful when I read about her “supposed political leanings”.

Who, among us, has never uttered the word “Nigger”?

The same publisher, Ballantine Books, owned by Random House, just happens to be the same publisher of another QVC Channel author, David Venable, that’s right, the foodie guy himself!

After complimenting Michelle on her slim figure,

I admire Paula's cooking skills while blind.

It's pretty important to note that they then wanted $1.25M, as in before the deposition. I don't like that kind of shakedown any more than anyone else, except in the case of someone like Deen, $1.25M is chump change relative to her future earnings under all the television, product and brand promotion deals she once had. Her legal advisers should have pointed this out to her, if they didn't it rises to the level of malpractice, in my view.

$1.25M would have been a cheap way to purchase a settlement and a confidentiality agreement and to forego all this nonsense.

Robert Byrd, former KKK leader and “conscience of the Senate”, called someone a “white nigger”, which implies that the default description of a nigger is someone who is not white. Not one person on the left made one little squeek about it. He was Southern, and a former KKK leader. And he used this term long after his supposed epiphany.

Apparently he was too important to advancing the left’s agenda to be made to apologise or bear any responsibility for his actions. His words weren’t in the distant past under duress, like being robbed at gunpoint. His were in the prime of his career. And like I said, using the description “white nigger” implies by default that just a regular “nigger” isn’t white, so it must be someone of color.

Apparently Paula didn’t donate enough to the left’s causes to get a pass. Byrd also never denounced his own southerness, though he did play himself up as one of those “reconstructed” kinds (scallywag).

Paula Deen IS a democrat. She supported the Usurper.
