While I disagree with the article on points I will state that I am a proud Mutt. I’m Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English, and German that I know of. My daughters have added Japanese. I’m proud of my muttiness.

I’m ok with the idea of a melting pot. But here’s the key a melting pot combines the different elements to form an alloy. Alloys typically end up with the best of each element that went into forming them and demonstrate new properties all together from the parent metals.

We’re not a cornicopia or basket full of goods, with each item differentiated and seperate. We’re an alloy of heated metals brought together for a common purpose. That purpose is liberty and the quest for something better. Alone or as a group we have a responsibility, yea a destiny to move toward something greater than what has been.

To do so means not to lay back and bask on our past achievements or rely on others to fend for our needs; but to strive, to exert and thereby to grow in the forging stresses into something that is better than what we were before.

Provided with free choice we take from each element what is best of our own free will. This is what it means to be an American.

We are being diluted by low wage low education workers who are okay with Socialism, especially when it means benefits they didn’t have to pay for.

Enough people who were not schooled in America and hold no loyalty to this nation or its history.

“what’s in it for me?!!”
