SEIU, advocacy groups pressure House on immigration
Politico ^ | July 2, 2013 | By SEUNG MIN KIM

A broad coalition of advocacy groups is launching a multipronged campaign aimed at pressuring the Republican-led House to pass comprehensive immigration reform before the August recess.

The Center for Community Change, a grass-roots organization based in Washington, said Tuesday that it is investing north of $1 million in an effort that includes paid radio ads, voter registration drives for the 2014 midterm election, and town hall events. The Service Employees International Union, which launched a seven-figure ad buy in advance of the Senate immigration debate, said it will continue its radio, TV and online ad campaign on immigration reform.

And the Florida Immigrant Coalition will boost its efforts, including phone-banking and naturalizing immigrants, meant at increasing pressure on lawmakers from the critical swing state. Mi Familia Vota is also part of the campaign. The coalition’s bottom line: The bill passed by the House has to be comprehensive, and it has to include a pathway to citizenship.

“Even though today [only] 38 members of the Republican caucus have a significant Latino presence, those 38 are enough for them to lose the majority in the House,” SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Eliseo Medina told reporters. “And this will keep getting worse with each two-year election cycle.”

The SEIU, a wholly owned arm of the democrat party and giant conflict of interest, is a corrupt criminal enterprise that should be outlawed.

Yes, it is a criminal enterprise, and Boehner better ignore their influence peddling entirely.

SIEU the perfect personification of everything wrong with unions today with their gang of Purple People beaters.

As much as I hate the NEED for unions in the private sector, there are some CEOs which bring union scum on themselves, I detest the fact the unions are allowed to exist in the public sector as every worker protection known to mankind exists in government there should be no need for such filth.

I just call them the Border Jumpers union. Their only reason for existing as a union is to pimp left wing causes.

If the house caves, I predict it will not be long before we see Patriots veto political terms with a .308.

OK...we have their "blueprint", and need to respond "in kind"!

"Pressure" your House Representatives likewise. Call, e-mail, or WRITE to say (with apologies for vulgar language) "screw SEIU"!

There was a great interview on one of the week-end talk shows with Trey Gowdy (sic - and I think that's his name) who's a S.C. Rep....he made the point that all the 11 million illegals are not some homogenous group at all. He also was adamant on the point that there should be NO across-the-board "legal status" of any kind permitted, with or without the "path to citizenship", before border security, the sole authority of Homeland Security Sec. to determine compliance with "benchmarks, and a number of other issues are first resolved.

I was surprised that I didn't know this was part of the Senate bill (the immediate "legalization" of ALL illegals currently "in the shadows")...ostensibly so we know who's here, they will pay back taxes, etc...silly me! I wonder why I didn't know that?

Reform is definitely needed, but the "Gang of 8" Senate bill is NOT the answer. I am truly sick of these Senate and House "Gangs", too...THEY should "come out of the shadows"!!!

/ rant

“Are there NO conservatives out there with cash to get in on the House pressure....AGAINST the bill?!”

Conservatives are too lazy to do much more than sneer at the other side for pushing their viewpoint.

Besides all you really need is to listen to Rush and pray for Jesus to return or wait for the “inevitable” “civil war II” to start and it will alllllll be taken care of. ////s

RE: Unions in general, there are certainly good unions and bad unions.

Government employee unions used to be illegal, and they still should be. How strange (NOT!) that this is the country's largest union membership-wise, by far!

Likewise, some of the most reputable trade unions have been taken over by thugs, and their leadership is nothing more than a bunch of Democrat activists who browbeat their personnel into participating in political activities, and probably make as much money themselves as some CEOS.

There's a lot to argue both for and against Unions nowadays...the disparities in union vs. private sector employee wages and benefits is striking! BUT, that's another whole can of worms!

I'm delighted to say, when we had to buy a new refrigerator last week, we got a GE (whose CEO we can't stand) that was MADE IN DECATUR, ALABAMA, USA...I'm sure it was made by union workers, but the price was very reasonable, and I expect the folks who made it probably vote at least 50% conservative, LOL! (it is Alabama...!)

A broad coalition of advocacy groups

All of which are funded by Uncle Scam, the tax-free Foundations, and sleazoids like Bill Gates and George Soros. These men and the people running these organizations are all traitors.

Does the SEIU realize that the immigration reform bill can easily screw over a good share of their rank and file?

At least, that’s the impression I got from what I’ve read here on FR and other sources.

” Unions in general, there are certainly good unions and bad unions”

In my entire working career, I only encountered one unionized firm that performed a stellar job.

In all other cases, overpaid, under worked, poor quality...

However, as I posted, there are some business men who are so bad they almost roll out the red (perfect color for them) carpet for union scum.

A good firm, with a responsible person at the helm, should be able to avoid the union albatross. Those who don’t deserve it but I reserve the right not to do business with them.

HOWEVER, I cannot avoid doing business with government and as I am forced into a single source for government services the existence of unions in the public sector makes my skin crawl.

I've been wondering the same thing!!

I know NumbersUSA is trying (not sure how conservative they are) and Tea Party Patriots (?) has come out against this *reform*. How well organized and funded are they? Not sure.

“The Center for Community Change, a grass-roots organization based in Washington,”

Yep, grass roots organizations are most assuredly based in Washington. That way they can cater to their grass roots members in the DC area...OK, gotcha.
