Moments after he demanded that the army withdraw a 48-hour ultimatum for him to resolve the conflict with his political opponents, Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi went on live television to say that he will not step down as demanded by millions of protesters.

Morsi vowed to protect his “constitutional legitimacy” with his life, according to the Al Jazeera network.

Addressing the nation in a speech carried live on state television, Morsi accused loyalists of his predecessor Hosni Mubarak of riding the current wave of protests to topple his regime. …

If they don’t get rid of this guy now, they can look forward to having a dictator for the next thirty or so years.

No matter who gets in, he’ll be a dictator, and an Islamic one at that. Tamarod is chock-full of Nasserists, Islamists and other extremists. The diplomatic door to Iran has already been swung wide open too, so their influence is also being brought to bear.

” - - - when we announce jihad that must be against foreign enemies and not against each other - - - “

Looks like it will be another long Arab Summer.

BTW, the phrasing in the above quote just might, could put a damper on their tourist business - - - - .

When the Egyptian army stages its coup decent people around the world will celebrate. However after the initial euphoria, the realization will come that Egypt will be facing a long period of civil unrest and worsening poverty. The Islamists will not take their defeat gracefully and can be expected to wage a long bitter violent campaign. When the Islamists in Algeria having won an election, were denied power by the military, they waged a long battle of civil violence and terrorism that nearly halted social and economic life. The Army was able only to control enclaves and protect oil and gas facilities. They were able to support themselves and feed the country. The Egyptian army is modern and proficient, but Egypt is already a destitute and overpopulated country.Economic and social conditions will worsen considerably with even a modest Islamic terrorist campaign. The West should prepare for hordes of unwanted refugees. The West will be pressured to provide immense direct aid but in the end will achieve neither gratitude nor influence. Also American policy regarding Egypt will become even more complicated and confusing, will be unlikely to be successful and will not benefit the United States. It would be best to avoid further involvement in this evolving quagmire but that of course won’t happen.

Looks like more blood will be spilled in Cairo. Lets hope the Army is better at holding things together. A great man needs to step forward—Calling the Anti-Christ! Oh wait—we elected him president.

Dead on!

The M Brotherhood will NOT go away, and there will be a new Caliphate.

Its just a question of how much death and destruction it will take to get the people to capitulate.

And besides, the US is financing SOMEBODY over there, and BO loves the M Brotherhood, so do the math.

What coup?

Remember that the Islamists are in power because of the army. Not in spite of the army.
